Ben Whittaker and Liam Cameron Set for Highly Anticipated Rematch

Ben Whittaker’s manager, Lee Eaton, has confirmed that a rematch between Whittaker and Liam Cameron is on the horizon. This follows their previous encounter on October 12, which was part of the undercard for the main event featuring Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol.

The initial bout ended unexpectedly in the fifth round when both fighters collided and fell onto the top rope, leading them to tumble out of the ring. The impact caused Whittaker to sustain injuries, ultimately preventing him from continuing the fight. The bout was declared a split decision draw, leaving fans disappointed and eager for a rematch.

Due to his injuries, Whittaker had to be taken from the arena in a wheelchair and will not fight again this year, as confirmed by his promoter, Ben Shalom. However, Whittaker recently updated fans on social media, stating that his recovery is progressing well.

Eaton took to X to share that he has already had discussions with Cameron’s lawyer about securing the rematch. “Had a good chat with his lawyer last night—interesting convo. The rematch will happen, I’m sure of it,” Eaton wrote.

For now, fans will need to monitor Whittaker’s recovery, but all signs point to a potential rematch against Cameron in 2025.

Whyte Questions Joshua's Performance and Looks to Future Rematch

In an interview with talkSPORT, Dillian Whyte expressed his confusion over Anthony Joshua’s recent performance against Daniel Dubois. The fight, held at Wembley Stadium, was a surprising turn for Joshua, who was knocked down four times before ultimately losing to Dubois. Whyte pointed out that this defeat raised several questions about Joshua's preparation and mindset leading up to the bout.

Whyte commented on the various factors contributing to Joshua's lackluster showing. While some analysts suggested that issues with Joshua's corner’s instructions played a significant role, others noted unusual behaviors from the former champion in the days leading up to the fight. Whyte emphasized that something seemed off, hinting at deeper issues that may need to be addressed as Joshua seeks to bounce back.

Adding to the complexity of the heavyweight landscape, Whyte discussed his mixed feelings about Deontay Wilder, stating, “I really hate Deontay Wilder, but I have been stopped by AJ. I have never been stopped by Wilder, so I’d still love to get that one back.” This sentiment underscores Whyte's desire to settle scores with both fighters, particularly as he remains hopeful about a future clash with Joshua.

The anticipation for a rematch between Joshua and Whyte has been building since their first encounter in 2015, where Joshua claimed victory. However, their planned rematch last year was thwarted by an adverse result in Whyte's drug test. Despite these setbacks, Whyte is optimistic about facing Joshua again, especially now that Joshua is in a rebuilding phase following the loss to Dubois.

Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, provided insight into the former champion's plans, revealing that Joshua is eager for a rematch with Dubois in February. However, minor physical issues could delay his return to the ring. Hearn explained that timing is crucial; for Joshua to fight Dubois in February, he would need to start training soon. Yet, Hearn also mentioned that Joshua might choose to wait for the outcome of Tyson Fury’s rematch with Oleksandr Usyk on December 21 before making a decision on his next move. If Fury wins, a monumental clash between Joshua and Fury could be on the table for May, marking a potentially historic moment in the heavyweight division.

As the heavyweight landscape continues to evolve, Dillian Whyte remains patiently focused on the opportunity to rekindle his rivalry with Joshua. With both fighters at critical junctures in their careers, the coming months promise to deliver exciting developments that could reshape the future of heavyweight boxing.

Youngest undisputed champion in boxing history crowned

On Saturday, November 2, 2024, boxer Gabriela Fundora, nicknamed “Golden Girl,” made history by becoming the youngest undisputed champion in women’s boxing history. The 21-year-old fighter claimed victory with a seventh-round technical knockout over Gabriela Celeste Alaniz, achieving this feat at The Theater at Virgin Hotels in Las Vegas. This triumph not only secured her the four main titles in the flyweight division but also solidified her place in boxing history.

Fundora’s height and reach advantage worked in her favor, allowing her to stay composed and strategic in every exchange. Despite Alaniz’s efforts, showcasing good footwork and speed, she was forced to fight at close range due to Fundora’s physical advantage.

The fight was stopped in the seventh round when referee Robert Hoyle intervened after a series of powerful punches from Fundora. Alaniz had been knocked down twice, and her corner decided to throw in the towel to prevent further damage.

This victory brought Fundora to a record of 15-0, with seven wins by knockout. On the other hand, Alaniz suffered her first knockout loss, now with a record of 15-2, with seven knockouts.Irish boxing legend set for the jungle

Deontay Wilder’s trainer labels upcoming title unification fight as a ‘mismatch’

We have become accustomed to Deontay Wilder taking the headlines, however on this occasion, his trainer, Malik Scott, is the one taking the limelight.

It is just two weeks until WBA cruiserweight champion Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez faces off against WBO champion Chris ‘The Gentleman’ Billam-Smith in a unification clash out in Saudi Arabia, in the next instalment of ‘Riyadh Season’.

Scott is a trainer of Ramirez and will be there on the night to assist lead trainer Julian Chau.

After suffering the first defeat of his career to Dmitry Bivol in 2022, Ramirez has since moved up from light heavyweight to pursue a career in the cruiserweight division.

Now two fights in and having picked up the WBA strap last time out against Arsen Goulamirian, ‘Zurdo’ is looking to unify and set up a potential clash against Jai Opetaia.

His opponent, ‘CBS’ is in red-hot form.

After defeating former stablemate, now turned heavyweight, Lawrence Okolie, to become WBO champion, he has since defended his title against Mateusz Masternak and Richard Riakporhe.

Significantly, the victory against Riakporhe avenged the only defeat of his career to date.

Speaking to BoxingScene, ‘Zurdo’s’ trainer Scott has dismissed claims that this fight could be a 50:50.World champion relinquishes belt

“I had Zurdo for his fight with Joe Smith, and he did well. No disrespect to Billam-Smith, but this fight is a mismatch.”

Scott went on to explain why he believes his fighter is far too-good for his opponent.

“Zurdo is a big, strong southpaw who’s faced tougher opponents than Billam-Smith,” Scott said. “He’s a powerful body puncher with great angles and an incredible boxing mind. Billam-Smith is big and keeps coming forward, but he’s a one-trick pony.”

He did credit Billam-Smith’s trainer, but he went on to explain how this fight will play out and what will be next in his career.

“He has a good trainer, but I think Zurdo takes over in the second half,” Scott said. “Zurdo has a dream team in his corner. I believe he’ll become undisputed champion, with Jai Opetaia as his only real challenge.”

Malik Scott believes strongly that his man will win the fight and win it in impressive style.

However, with ‘The Gentleman’ on such a significant win streak, this fight may turn out to be much tougher than he is expecting.

Johnny Fisher reveals the heavyweight divisions biggest puncher

The hugely popular ‘The Romford Bull’ Johnny Fisher could be one of the next stars in British heavyweight boxing. Despite only having had 12 fights, he has sparred with some of the best in the division and he has recently revealed which current heavyweight carries the biggest punch.

Fisher is set to bring the ‘Romford army’ over with him to Saudi Arabia in December when he faces the experienced David Allen on the undercard of the rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury.

Notwithstanding the fact that Allen is not the fighter he once was, the experience he has should result in this fight being the toughest test of Fisher’s career to date.

The young Brit is coming off an emphatic first round knockout victory against Alen Babic in front of a raucous Copper Box crowd.

He has been touted by his promoter Eddie Hearn as the next big ticket seller in the country.

In his most recent fight he sold over 4000 tickets alone.

These numbers are extraordinary for a man only 12 fights into his career.

Not only has Fisher stolen the hearts of many British fans already, but he has also sparred with the likes of Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury, Daniel Dubois, and Joe Joyce.Lennox Lewis doubts Anthony Joshua’s readiness for a Daniel Dubois rematch

Speaking to the Take A Seat Podcast, he has revealed which of those he has

“[Dubois] He can whack, he can seriously punch.”

“He’s the hardest I have been punched by ever and his jab is like a right hand when it hits you.”

“It is unbelievable power. He hits you like an absolute horse.”

Johnny Fisher has revealed that Daniel Dubois is without doubt the biggest puncher that he has

Daniel Dubois’ power was clear to see when he shocked the world by utterly demolishing Anthony Joshua at Wembley Stadium.

Whilst, it is a few years before Fisher will likely face the likes of Dubois, having had the experience of sharing the ring with him, can only stand him in good stead moving forward.

It will become clearer as time goes on whether the man from Romford will reach the top of the division, but his next fight should provide fans with a clearer picture of where he is at currently.

Lawrence Okolie Eyes Heavyweight Stardom and a Potential Clash with Anthony Joshua

Lawrence Okolie, who recently made the leap to the heavyweight division, isn’t wasting any time calling out big names. The former cruiserweight world champion has his sights set on none other than Anthony Joshua, a fighter he’s admired since working at McDonald’s and watching ‘AJ’ capture Olympic gold in 2012.

Okolie’s heavyweight debut is set for Saturday, December 7th, on the upcoming ‘Magnificent 7’ card. And his ambitions are clear: he’s planning to fight a top-five contender after his debut and then push for a world title shot by next summer.

The move to heavyweight comes with another significant change—Okolie has switched promoters, signing with Frank Warren and Queensberry Promotions. Now part of a star-studded heavyweight roster, Okolie is eager to make a statement.

“I will be bringing big performances at heavyweight,” Okolie told the Daily Star, highlighting how weight-cutting struggles affected his knockout power at cruiserweight. “In my early cruiserweight days, before I was draining myself, I was putting on knockout performances nine times out of ten, but then it started to fade. From the spars I’ve had with heavyweights, I know I can do it. I want to show this explosive power.”

Okolie is determined to make an impact and won’t shy away from the toughest matchups, including a showdown with Joshua. “My whole life has been about the next step,” he said. “Now my aim is to be world heavyweight champion. I want that next year.”

As Anthony Joshua explores his options after the Daniel Dubois rematch fell through, a potential clash with Okolie could become a reality, setting up an electrifying encounter in a stacked division.

Ricky Hatton clarifies comments on Anthony Joshua

Now after some time since the fight, Hatton has clarified what he meant.

Ricky Hatton is one of the greatest fighters to come out of Britain and he brought his country’s fans some of their greatest nights.

His biggest night came in 2005 when he won the IBO world super lightweight title, in his hometown, Manchester, against Kostya Tszyu.

He also

With a record of 45-3, he retired in 2012 after being knocked out by Vyacheslav Senchenko.

His son, Campbell, has followed in his footsteps, but after back-to-back defeats, it does not seem likely that he will reach the feats of his father.

Speaking to IFL TV, Ricky Hatton has clarified his comments after Joshua’s defeat.

“I think I speak for the whole nation, I’ve got a lot of love for Anthony Joshua.”Jaron Ennis

”The thing is about boxing is, you don’t like seeing your mates get knocked out.”

”I don’t think he’s got anything left to prove.”

Hatton points out that ‘AJ’ has nothing else left to prove in the sport, but whether he carries on or not should be up to him.

He then went on to suggest who he would like to see Joshua fight if he were to carry on.

”But if he wants to carry on, who wouldn’t want to see him fight Tyson Fury.”

Hatton also suggested that if he were Daniel Dubois he would be annoyed about a potential rematch and instead should be looking at different options.

”Daniel Dubois deserves the chance to rematch Usyk or the big payday with Tyson”

This week we learnt that the rematch may not even take place next as Anthony Joshua is unlikely to be ready for a proposed February 22nd date.

Instead, there have been rumours of potential replacements for Dubois, with a certain Zhilei Zhang through in his name into the hat.

Oscar De La Hoya reveals plans for Ryan Garcia’s comeback

In a recent interview with Fight Hub TV, Oscar De La Hoya, president of Golden Boy Promotions,

During the interview, De La Hoya made it clear that both he and Garcia have high-profile fights and significant challenges in mind. When asked about a potential rematch with Haney, De La Hoya dismissed the idea, confirming they are focused on a different direction. “Who I really want to see him against is Teofimo Lopez,” he stated. According to De La Hoya, Lopez, considered one of the best in the 140-pound division, is the ideal opponent for Garcia’s return and represents the type of challenge they are both seeking.Oscar De La Hoya also

De La Hoya stated that Garcia has resumed training and is in excellent shape, working intensely in the gym to prepare for his return in April. “Ryan is amazing. He’s doing great, he’s in the gym, he’s looking good, and he can’t wait for his return in April,” De La Hoya assured, emphasizing that the team is preparing for a comeback “bigger than ever.”

It’s worth noting that Ryan Garcia was handed a retroactive one-year ban in boxing following his fight against Devin Haney. After the bout, it was reported that Garcia tested positive for Ostarine, an anabolic steroid, both on weigh-in day and on fight day. Following the doping test result, Garcia’s victory was overturned and classified as a “no-contest.” Additionally, the Haney family recently filed a lawsuit against Garcia, further complicating his professional situation.

Now, with April in sight, the possibility of a fight between Ryan Garcia and Teofimo Lopez captures fans’ attention. Garcia’s return next year will mark the end of a period of ups and downs in his career, and according to Oscar De La Hoya, it will be an event with “months of preparation” that promises to meet the public’s expectations.

IBF strip another world champion of belt

The International Boxing Federation (IBF) continues enforcing strict mandatory defense policies, resulting in the loss of titles. This time, the affected boxer is Argentine Fernando Martínez, junior bantamweight champion, who has been stripped of his belt without having to fight. The IBF has been criticized for imposing mandatory bouts with lesser-known challengers, causing frustration among boxers and boxing fans.

According to Salvador Rodriguez of ESPN, Martínez was stripped of his title ahead of his anticipated rematch against Kazuto Ioka, scheduled for New Year’s. Although not yet officially confirmed, this fight had the potential to be a unification bout, adding more significance to the rematch. The undefeated Argentine champion, with 17 professional fights and 9 knockouts, was preparing to defend both belts: the World Boxing Association (WBA) title, which he won from Ioka in their first encounter, and the IBF title.

Martínez captured the WBA title against Ioka in July 2024 in Tokyo, winning by unanimous decision after a tough 12-round fight. This was his last official fight, consolidating his position in the super flyweight division. However, by losing the IBF belt, only the WBA title will be at stake in the rematch against the Japanese fighter.Following this IBF decision, the vacant belt will be contested by Mexican fighters Willibaldo García and René Calixto.

García, with a record of 22 wins, 5 losses, 1 draw, and 13 knockouts, will face the undefeated Calixto, who has 23 wins and 9 knockouts. This fight, scheduled for December in Japan, will award the vacant IBF title.

Martínez’s case is not the first time the IBF has stripped champions due to a lack of mandatory defenses. Fighters like Oleksandr Usyk, Jai Opetaia, Terence Crawford, and Canelo Álvarez have also lost their titles under similar circumstances. In Canelo’s case, he was stripped of his super middleweight world title when his fight against Edgar Berlanga was confirmed. In his absence, William Scull claimed the title by defeating Vladimir Shishkin in Falkensee, Germany.

Jai Opetaia, who lost his IBF cruiserweight title, regained it by defeating Mairis Briedis in May 2024 in a 12-round unanimous decision. Usyk was also forced to relinquish his title, which was awarded to Daniel Dubois by the IBF.Lennox Lewis doubts Anthony Joshua’s readiness for a Daniel Dubois rematch

Terence Crawford was also stripped of his IBF welterweight world title, with Jaron “Boots” Ennis being promoted from interim champion to IBF welterweight champion.

The IBF continues to apply strict mandatory defense rules, as demonstrated by the recent case of Artur Beterbiev. On October 17, the organization ordered Beterbiev to defend his title against German fighter Michael “Diesel” Eifert, who holds a record of 13 wins and one loss. If Beterbiev decides to proceed with his anticipated rematch against Dmitry Bivol, he may be forced to relinquish the IBF title. Conor Wallace and Michael Eifert are expected to fight for the vacant belt in 2025 once Beterbiev vacates it.Me dicen que los mexicanos Wilibaldo García y René Calixto disputarán el vacante cetro Supermosca FIB en diciembre en Japón. Lennox Lewis doubts Anthony Joshua’s readiness for a Daniel Dubois rematch

In a recent interview with Sky Sports, former heavyweight boxer and champion Lennox Lewis

During the interview, the journalist highlighted Dubois’ current relevance, especially after his victory over Joshua. In response, Lennox Lewis praised Dubois’ performance in the ring, stating:

“I thought it was a great fight. Daniel Dubois threw an unbelievable punch in the first round and came out ready to rumble. As he said in his interview, ‘I’m not scared of you, who are you trying to scare?’ When he said that at the press conference, I thought we had to watch out for Daniel. He was serious.”Lennox Lewis emphasized that Daniel Dubois’ confidence and determination were key factors in his victory.

According to the former champion, although Dubois made several statements before the fight, many did not believe he could defeat Joshua. However, Lewis acknowledged that Dubois’ words in the week leading up to the fight reflected genuine conviction and a serious focus.

“When someone’s really quiet and doesn’t say much, you’ve got to listen to what they do say. He said these things and really meant them, so I knew we were in for a great fight,” Lewis commented.

Speaking about the impact of this victory on Dubois’ career, Lennox Lewis expressed enthusiasm. “He said he’s the ‘King Slayer,’ and he went out and slayed the king. He did a great job,” he said, referring to how Dubois challenged and defeated the former heavyweight champion. For Lewis, Dubois has managed to position himself as a prominent figure in the division, especially among British heavyweight boxers.

When asked if he thinks there will be a rematch between Joshua and Dubois, Lewis expressed his doubts. Although he considers it likely that Joshua will seek another chance, he also emphasized that overcoming a knockout defeat is a significant psychological challenge.EXCLUSIVE: Zhilei Zhang ready to fight Daniel Dubois on February 22nd

“For me, it was about getting back up after being knocked down. For Anthony Joshua, he didn’t get back up; he was counted out a couple of times, and that’s rough going back in against a guy who’s done that to you,” Lewis explained, recalling his own experiences with rematches.

Finally, Lennox Lewis

However, Lennox Lewis appeared skeptical about whether Joshua will be in optimal condition to face Dubois again. “I don’t know if Anthony will be ready for another fight,” Lewis concluded.

It is worth mentioning that Dubois has expressed his willingness to face Joshua in a rematch within the next three months. Nevertheless, numerous factors seem to indicate that it may still be too soon, and Joshua might not be ready for a rematch. Conversely, Dubois’ next challenger would likely be either Chinese boxer Zhilei “Big Bang” Zhang or Fabio Wardley.

EXCLUSIVE: Zhilei Zhang ready to fight Daniel Dubois on February 22nd

Daniel Dubois seemed poised to rematch Anthony Joshua in three months’ time but the fast turnaround from their first encounter appears to be too soon for ‘AJ’. Instead, Frank Warren and Dubois have been on the lookout for a worthy challenger and they may well have found one in Zhilei ‘Big Bang’ Zhang.

‘Triple D’ knocked Joshua out in front of 96,000 onlookers in a record-breaking event at Wembley Stadium in September, retaining his IBF world title with an authoritative performance that has seen him become a household name in the United Kingdom.

In typical Anthony Joshua fashion, ‘AJ’ sought to immediately right the wrong and requested that he and his newfound domestic rival rematched in Saudi Arabia, with the date of February 22nd being touted.

Yet, Frank Warren told BoxNation yesterday that the rematch is unlikely to take place on that date, with Joshua still recovering from injuries endured in his first encounter against his hard-hitting countryman.

“I don’t see that [Joshua rematch] happening next, so we are looking at a couple of things at the moment and we will make a decision. I was hoping that we could get it done fairly quickly, but we won’t be able to get it done fairly quickly.

Warren went on to declare that an opponent will have signed next week and that he is in talks with a number of contenders, before ruling out fellow Queensberry heavyweight Fabio Wardley as an option.

“Sometime in the next week we have got to be in a position where we can close on something, and we are talking to a few other guys.

“I want him out on that date [February 22nd] and he wants to be out on that date.”

“I don’t see that [Fabio Wardley fight] happening next, I can’t see it being next.”

“For me, that fight could be built into something mega, there is no doubt about that.”

Today, the WBA revealed their updated heavyweight rankings and there was one notable absentee, as Chinese knockout artist Zhilei Zhang dropped out of the rankings, having previously been positioned at #7.

As such, it can be assumed that Zhang will be fighting either WBO interim champion Joseph Parker or IBF champion Daniel Dubois. A source close to the fan-favourite 41-year-old has now confirmed to that the veteran wants to put his name into the mix for the latter.Mike Tyson vows to ‘slaughter’ Jake Paul as ruthless mindset re-emerges

Zhang twice knocked out one of only two men to have defeated Dubois as a professional when he halted Joe Joyce on two occasions last year but the world title plans of the southpaw bogeyman were derailed when he lost his WBO interim strap to Parker in March.

Potential Sebastian Fundora vs. Errol Spence Jr. fight given new update

Talks of a showdown between unified super-welterweight champion Sebastian Fundora and former unified welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr. have been prevalent throughout 2024. However, after hitting a bump in the road last month, the potential WBO & WBC 154lb title affair has been given a fresh update.

Fundora pulled off a major upset when he defeated Tim Tsyzu via majority decision back in March to be crown as a unified super-welterweight champion and seemingly tee-up a clash between himself and arguable pound-for-pound number one, Terence Crawford.

Yet, despite Crawford being in possession of the WBO interim belt, ‘Bud’ gave Fundora his permission to fight in a voluntary defence of his belts, with Crawford’s fierce rival Errol Spence Jr. the man expected to land the opportunity.

Spence Jr. lost out to Crawford in his most recent contest back in July 2023 and is yet to fight in the super-welterweight division but an eventual rematch between the pair remains as one of the most lucrative proposals on the table for Crawford – regardless of the dominant fashion in which he dispatched of Spence the first time around.

Although, that plan seemingly came to an end when the WBO explained that any voluntary defence of their title must come against a contender who is ranked in the top ten, and understandably given his inactivity, Spence Jr. is not.

Nevertheless, the possible title bout could be back on track after the WBO’s convention in Puerto Rico yesterday, as TGB Promotions requested that Spence Jr. was installed as a top ten contender when the rankings are updated and supposedly received a ‘positive’ response, as per Everything Boxing.

“The president said the request would be considered by the committee but he sounded very positive about it. I expect it will be approved and Fundora will be approved to fight Spence next.”

Crawford appears to be targeting the goal of becoming the first three-weight undisputed champion of the four-belt era, requiring wins against fellow champions WBC and WBO title-holder Fundora (or possibly Spence Jr.) and IBF ruler Bakhram Murtazaliev.

Frank Warren rules out Daniel Dubois vs. Anthony Joshua rematch

IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois was expected to rematch Anthony Joshua just a few months after their first fight but it seems as though ‘AJ’ will not be ready in time. Now, Warren has revealed further details regarding Dubois’ upcoming fight date.

Daniel Dubois shocked the world when he dramatically knocked out Anthony Joshua in September, making an authoritative first defence of his IBF world title and becoming a household name in the process.

Now a respected world champion, Dubois was heading into the immediate rematch with Joshua as a favourite this time around, but recent news that the latter was still suffering from injuries caused doubt as to whether the pair would meet again.

Speaking with BoxNation, Frank Warren has now confirmed that he cannot see the Joshua rematch taking place next, before adding that he expects to close on a deal for Dubois’ February outing as early as next week

“I don’t see that [Joshua rematch] happening next, so we are looking at a couple of things at the moment and we will make a decision. I was hoping that we could get it done fairly quickly, but we won’t be able to get it done fairly quickly.

“Sometime in the next week we have got to be in a position where we can close on something, and we are talking to a few other guys.

“I want him out on that date [February 22nd] and he wants to be out on that date.”Anthony Joshua advised on next opponent by Matchroom founder

As far as alternate opponents go, Dubois had been linked to an in-house heavyweight battle between in-form countryman Fabio Wardley, who recently scored a viral first-round knockout win over Frazer Clarke.

However, Warren went on to admit that he believes the timing for that fight is not right and that the proposed domestic dust-up will be much bigger in a few fights’ time.

“I don’t see that [Fabio Wardley fight] happening next, I can’t see it being next.”

“For me, that fight could be built into something mega, there is no doubt about that.”

Instead, names such as Joseph Parker and Zhilei Zhang are being touted, as Dubois seeks to defend his crown for a second time and possibly tee-up a rematch with Oleksandr Usyk for the undisputed heavyweight title.

New potential Canelo Alvarez opponent emerges following rankings update

A fight against Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez is the most lucrative proposal outside of the heavyweight division but still the unified super-middleweight champion does not have an opponent lined up. Yet, a recent world ranking update may have put a new fighter on his radar.

Canelo had been linked to a showdown with polarising middleweight contender Chris Eubank Jr. in recent weeks as both Eubank and his promoter declared that conversations were underway.

However, Canelo’s trainer and manager Eddy Reynoso has since labelled those comments as ‘false’ and revealed that the Brit has missed his opportunity to face the Mexican pound-for-pound superstar when negotiations collapsed last September.

Instead, Canelo will look elsewhere to source his next dance partner but names such as Christian Mbilli, William Scull and Diego Pacheco do not seem to whet the appetites of fans in the United States.

Another option is newly-crowned WBA interim super-middleweight champion and fan-favourite, Caleb Plant. ‘Sweet Hands’ lost out to Canelo via eleventh round knockout in a clash for the undisputed 168lb throne back in 2021 but since then he has grown a reputation as a ‘take on all comers’ fighter and adopted a more aggressive fighting style.Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano new catchweight set

Yet, there is now a possible contender that Canelo has now already fought, as the WBA have updated their rankings and thrown a new name into the mix, as former unified middleweight champion Jermall Charlo has been installed as the #5 contender, despite the fact that he has not fought since last November and was inactive for almost three years prior.

Canelo famously fought Charlo’s twin brother, Jermell Charlo, last September and was rumoured to be lining up a scrap with Jermall afterwards,. That was until he cruised to a dull unanimous-decision victory that left the fans wanting more, ending whispers of a meeting with his brother amid fears that a scrap Jermall would also underwhelm.

Although, now that he is ranked and Canelo is looking for big name opponents, Jermall Charlo could be the ideal dance partner for the unified champion, especially if the ‘Hit Man’ is able to claim Plant’s interim title in the first half of 2025.

Jaron Ennis shares frustration over Terence Crawford fight

Undefeated IBF welterweight champion Jaron ‘Boots Ennis’ is hopeful of establishing himself as a pound-for-pound contender in the coming years but a win over unified super-welterweight champion Terence Crawford would fast track him to his goal. However, Ennis has

Ennis was upgraded to full IBF world champion when Crawford was stripped of the title last November ahead of his eventual move up to the 154lb division.

Yet, ‘Boots’ was able to prove that he was worthy of the world champion mantle when he returned home for a first defence of the belt against David Avanesyan in Philadelphia – dazzling under the lights to deliver a fifth-round stoppage in front of a sold-out crowd.

The 27-year-old is now seen as the superstar that he has always dreamt of being, particularly in his hometown, but despite 32 wins to his name – he still lacks the necessary breakthrough win to become recognised as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the sport.

As far as opponents go, the only contests in the welterweight division that would boost his claim to the pound-for-pound throne would be his fellow champions ahead of an undisputed title run.

Although, rumours of a showdown with Crawford up at super-welterweight have been mentioned since the veteran moved up and there is every chance that the all-American clash could happen before the ageing multi-divisional undisputed champion decides to hang up the gloves.

In an interview with Ariel Helwani, Ennis admitted that he is ‘tired’ of discussing the fight against Crawford, before revealing that he hopes to become the pound-for-pound king within a couple of fights.Gervonta Davis fight postponed

Helwani – “True or false, by the time it is said and done… you will fight Terence Crawford.”

Ennis – “Hopefully it’s true. Like I said… I’ve been asking for that fight and I’m tired of answering those same questions. Y’all go ask him! I said yes [to fighting him] plenty of times, I am tired of answering.”

Ennis – “I want to fight everybody, I want to show the world that I am the best fighter in the world.”

Ennis – “[I am] maybe one or two fights [from being the pound-for-pound king].”

Jaron Ennis will rematch mandatory challenger Karen Chukhadzhian next Saturday in a second defence of his world title but his aim of being the pound-for-pound number one after the fight that follows would only be realistic if he believesthat ‘Bud’ is next in line.

Audley Harrison announces return to boxing

Former British heavyweight Audley Harrison has announced that he will be returning to the sport.

The hard-hitting Londoner has been retired from the sport since 2013.

Harrison in 2000 became the first man from Britain to win an Olympic gold in the super-heavyweight division.

Despite a successful amateur career, he struggled to have the same success in the professional ranks.

He ended his career with a record of 31-7.

His famous defeat against David Haye came in 2010, in a fight billed as ‘Best of Enemies’.

He never looked settled in the fight and once Haye went through the gears in the third round, the fight was stopped.

Harrison’s final fight took place in 2013 against the destructive ‘Bronze-Bomber’ Deontay Wilder.

He was knocked out in a single round and this signalled the end of his career.

However, after eleven years out the sport, Harrison has announced on his Twitter/ X account that he will be returning as a manager.Future ‘face of boxing’ well-poised for lightweight world title shot

”I’m back in the boxing game,” he wrote.

”I’ve received my boxing license from the California State Athletic Commission.”

“I’m going to get involved on the training side too, but more in an advisory role, so the game-plan & tactics for fight night are spot on.”

“Fighters, although I didn’t get all my goals accomplished in the ring, I was the first boxer in this generation who pioneered boxers managing their own careers; so I know the boxing business from the television boardroom, to the promoters contracts, matchmaking, sponsorships, pr, venue contracts & everything in-between.”

“I walked away from boxing for many years … partly because I didn’t want to tell my story, as I didn’t want to face my demons of my past, but life doesn’t work like that, so I’m ready to lift the lid, but not now.”

“All that knowledge & experience I have hasn’t gone, its been sitting dormant, waiting for me to return to guide that fighter who’s fallen and needs my support to help him rise.”

Audley Harrison is back in boxing as a manager but he will also look to get involved in a fighters training on a more advisory role.

Boxers accumulate so much wisdom throughout their careers, so the opportunity of a former British heavyweight being your manager could be priceless to today’s young fighters.Good news peeps …I'm back in the #boxing game 😊 I've received my boxing manager's license from the #californiastateathleticcommission so I'm on the move.

Future ‘face of boxing’ well-poised for lightweight world title shot

Keyshawn Davis is only eleven fights into his professional career, yet he could already be on the cusp of a shot at world honours.

Davis had an unbelievable amateur career, holding a record of 80-13 he won silver medals at the 2020 Summer Olympics, 2019 World Championships and the 2019 Pan American Games.

Despite never claiming a knockout victory during his extensive amateur days, it took him just two rounds to stop Lester Brown in his first professional outing.

Now eleven fights in, ‘The Businessman’ has recorded seven victories by knockout.

In his most recent performance he showcased that he can also win ugly, in a rough affair he defeated Miguel Madueno by unanimous decision.

The American certainly does not lack any confidence.

He has predicted that he will be ‘the face of boxing’ within the next five years.

Moreover, earlier this year he clashed with WBO junior welterweight champion Teofimo Lopez.

On November the 8th, the future ‘face of boxing’ returns when he headlines his own show in Norfolk, United States, against Gustavo Daniel Lemos.

Lemos holds a record of 29-1, with his only loss coming in his last fight against Richardson Hitchins.Teofimo Lopez expected to vacate WBO super-lightweight title imminently

Despite losing, the majority of people within boxing felt he won the fight and many went as far as claiming it was a robbery.

Having previously been undefeated, Lemos will be a tough test for Davis and should be a good leveller for whether the American could really could go on to be ‘the face of boxing’.

There has been big news announced at the WBO convention that the winner of this fight will most likely become the mandatory challenger for champion, Denys Berinchyk.

Therefore, if Davis can win this fight, there is potential he could secure the first major step in becoming ‘the face of boxing’.

The lightweight division is full of mammoth names, the likes of Gervonta Davis – who has himself proclaimed to be ‘the face of boxing, holds the WBA belt.

Moreover, Vasiliy Lomachenko holds the IBF belt and Shakur Stevenson holds the WBC belt.

There are plenty of fights there for Keyshawn Davis, but all his focus should be on his next fight in November, which most likely will be his toughest yet.🚨 KEYSHAWN-LEMOS WINNER COULD BE MANDO
