Canelo Alvarez Defeats Gennady ‘GGG’ Golovkin by Unanimous Decision with No Debate
FightersTalkTV.com – After the controversial scorecards overshadowed their first two meetings, Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez finally proved he was the better fighter than his long-term rival Gennadiy ‘GGG’ Golovkin in the third fight on Saturday night in Las Vegas. With the unanimous decision, Alvarez wins over Golovkin with no debate and remains the undisputed super middleweight champion of the world.
Back to their two previous fights, Canelo started out strong in the first six rounds, fell apart and was outboxed and out-punched by GGG from rounds seven through twelve. Instead of a win for Golovkin, Canelo was given a draw decision at the first meeting. So it is with the second, the judges gave it to Canelo by a 12-round majority decision, while the fans thought the fight appeared to be either a draw or a win by Golovkin.
Although the scorecards may have reflected a closer fight than actually took place, Alvarez showed he is better than Golovkin in their trilogy. Canelo dominated the fight with defence and a strong combination of wide overhand rights, jabs and left hooks. He makes Golovkin spend the first eight rounds working behind a largely ineffective jab, seemingly digging himself a deep hole on the scorecards.

Things didn’t get much better for Golovkin as the rounds ticked by. Alvarez would land jabs and hooks while Golovkin would chase and miss with the majority of his punches.
It was somewhat shocking that Alvarez failed to work with the body with any regularity. Golovkin, 40, had shown a vulnerability to body shots in his recent fights and Alvarez has one of the best-left hands to the body in the sport. Still, Alvarez did not need to key in on Golovkin’s ribs as his very basic strategy had worked well.
While Alvarez had promised a knockout, he never needed to shift to a higher gear to shoot for the finish, instead working over Golovkin with simple and crisp boxing. The judges unanimously awarded Alvarez the victory on points scoring it 116-112, 115-113, 115-113
Gennady Golovkin Uncertain What He Needs To Change To Beat Canelo
“He’s a really good fighter,” Alvarez said after the fight. “He’s strong. He’s a great fighter and that’s why we’re here. I’m glad to share the ring with him. I’m going to keep forward to keep my legacy strong.”
“With my hand problems I out-jabbed the best jabber in the world in Gennadiy Golovkin,” Alvarez said.
“I think towards the end of the fight I obviously started to get a bit fatigued and that’s because we’ve not been able to work explosively in the gym. But despite all the problems that we’ve had, I was really happy with my performance tonight,” he added.
“I wanted to get that KO but it didn’t come because he’s a great fighter. That’s why there are 12 rounds in a fight. So you can show and display who’s the best. So I’m really happy with what I’ve done tonight.”
For Alvarez, the focus now switches to avenging his surprise defeat to Russian Dmitry Bivol last November, after he undergoes surgery on an injured left hand.
“It’s very important for me, for my legacy, for my country, for everybody,” Alvarez admitted about the prospect of fighting Bivol again.
“I’ve gone through some very difficult things in my life, I’ve actually shown that defeats are great because they enable you to come back and show humility.
“I’m going to keep going to keep my legacy going.”

The loss was only the second of Golovkin’s career. He still holds the IBF and WBA middleweight titles and said after the fight that he would return to 160 pounds for his next, brushing off any suggestion he would retire after the trilogy fight with Alvarez.
“Everybody knows, this is high-level class. This is the best fighter in boxing. Everyone knows who is Canelo. It’s a huge fight. Look at his face, look at my face. We trained well, and this shows that we did a very good-quality fight.
“This fight is more tactical. Today, Canelo is better. Congrats to Canelo.”
Despite speculation that a second loss to Alvarez could result in him walking away from the sport, Golovkin vowed to carry on, telling his legion of fans that he is “still a champion”.
“Absolutely,” the Kazakh said when asked whether he would continue. “I still have this fire burning within me. I have the passion for boxing. Don’t forget I have three belts at 160lbs. I feel great.
“I did not allow any serious shots. I’m tired, I’m fresh. I feel the strength and power within me. Of course, if opportunity presents I will be looking to return in the ring.”

He added: “Congrats to Canelo, congrats to all boxing fans. Remember guys, I have three belts at 160. I can come back guys. I’m still a champion.”
Interesting to know who is the next for GGG, reminds Chris Eubank Jr. is one of the best in 160lb. Moreover, Eubank Jr. is already called GGG out on his social media right after the fight.
FightersTalkTV.com – After being snubbed by Tyson Fury, Òleksandr Usyk reveals he would like to fight Deontay Wilder next for their undisputed heavyweight clash. After Usyk beat Anthony Joshua for the second time last month, he was expected to face Fury with all the titles on the line in boxing’s blue-riband division.
However, the Gypsy King has since called out Joshua, and now appears set to defend his WBC belt against his domestic rival in December instead. Usyk has hit out at Fury for not fighting him but has revealed that he already has another opponent lined up for early 2023.
“I’m not p***** off at all (about Fury deciding to fight Joshua). The bigger problem is Tyson Fury is not letting fans see one of the best historical bouts in boxing history,” Usyk told Ring TV.
“That’s his fault. Not mine. Tyson Fury can fight whoever he wants to fight.”
When pushed on who he would like to fight next, Usyk replied: “Deontay Wilder”.
Usyk has named Deontay Wilder as the opponent he would like to face next after Fury's snub
Usyk has named Deontay Wilder as the opponent he would like to face next after Fury’s snub.
“Wilder is a dangerous fighter, and that fight would most likely be in the United States,” he added.
Wilder is due to return to the ring after a year away when he takes on Robert Helenius in New York next month. Usyk plans to be at ringside to get a closer look at his potential next opponent.
Meanwhile, Usyk’s promoter Egis Klimas hits out at the Gypsy King for being afraid of the Ukrainian and choosing to fight AJ instead. He has also backed Usyk’s decision to stay active by targeting Wilder as he does not want to see Fury hold up his fighter’s career.
Usyk's promoter Egis Klimas has hit out at Fury for avoiding the Ukrainian heavyweight
Usyk’s promoter Egis Klimas has hit out at Fury for avoiding the Ukrainian heavyweight.
“Usyk is the heavyweight world champion and look how many statements Fury has made these last few months, he’s retiring, he’s not retiring, he’s fighting Usyk, he’s not Usyk, and now he’s fighting Joshua, you really don’t know what Fury is going to do next,” Klimas said.
“If you look in his past at everything that happened, Fury always caused a problem when it came to getting an undisputed world champion. He’s unpredictable.”
“What happens when Joshua beats his a**? What will happen next? They will go to a rematch, which will push back the chance to have an undisputed world champion. I think Fury is most likely afraid of Usyk. Why does he run away from Usyk? Why? Because Fury sees danger in Usyk.
“Usyk wanted to fight Fury by the end of the year. You know what, we’re not running after him. We have three belts. He has one belt. Who cares? It’s a situation Fury created. Not Usyk. Usyk would fight Tyson Fury in his backyard. Usyk would fight anyone in their backyard.
“Usyk would like to fight Wilder, but whoever wins that fight (between Wilder and Helenius) would be next for Usyk. Usyk is not like Fury. He’s looking for the winners not looking for the losers.”
What Usyk was thinking is reasonable. Instead of imposing the fight that must be held four months after Usyk’s last match, the Gipsy King had to wait and make a deal with him. Moreover, Fury stepped out of retirement because he wanted to fight Usyk.
FightersTalkTV.com – Undefeated legendary boxer Floyd Mayweather is set to take on British YouTube Star Deji in a Dubai exhibition fight on November 13. The former five-division world champion will face the KSI’s brother Deji in what will reportedly as a Global Titan fight series event featuring several four to six-round bouts with no scoring or judges.
Mayweather, 45, who officially retired in 2017 after beating UFC superstar Conor McGregor in ten rounds of their crossover bout, has been involved in three mega-money exhibitions in the ring to continue boosting his bank balance.
The 50-0 boxing icon has been making tens of millions during a worldwide retirement tour that has seen him fight in Japan, Miami and Dubai.
Undefeated Floyd Mayweather is set to fight British YouTuber Deji in Dubai on November 13
Undefeated Floyd Mayweather is set to fight British YouTuber Deji in Dubai on November 13.
The first was in 2018 against featherweight kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in Tokyo which was promoted by RIZIN. He marked his return by wiping out Nasukawa in one round of their mismatch.
Mayweather then faced YouTuber Logan Paul in June 2021 in the full eight-round distance as Paul technically avoided defeat. He is now due to face Japanese MMA star Mikuru Asakura on September 25 before fighting against Deji later this year at the Coca Cola Arena.
It is understood both parties came to terms last week after an initial approach from Mayweather’s team. The Brit and his brother are two of the UK’s biggest YouTube stars, and he will draw a sizeable audience to Mayweather’s Global Titan Fight Series after his bout with Don Moore failed to attract much interest in the wider boxing world in last May.
Deji will surely be earning the biggest payday of his career when he faces Mayweather
Deji will surely be earning the biggest payday of his career when he faces Mayweather.
As one of Britains’ leading YouTubers, alongside his brother KSI, it is believed that Deji’s presence will attract a large audience to the Global Titans event, and his people were quick to agree to terms on what will surely be a huge payday.
Deji’s start to his boxing career was far from glamorous, with defeats in his first three fights before a statement win over Yousef ‘Fousey’ Erakat as part of the card at his brother’s event in August.
The 25-year-old sought the tutelage of former professional Daley Perales, who has helped him with motivation and fitness, and the fruits of the pairing were clear to see in a comfortable win over Perales.
Although a fight with arguably the greatest boxer of his generation in Mayweather is not yet confirmed, the YouTuber has teased at a possible reveal coming soon. The card for the event is believed to be littered with high-profile names, with a combination of influencers and professional fighters set to feature in Dubai.
Love Island Jack Fincham, Harley Benn – son of boxing legend Nigel – and Jake Paul are rumoured to be in talks to feature. And fans will surely be treated to a lavish and near-pantomime evening if any of Mayweather’s previous exhibitions are anything to by.

FightersTalkTV.com – This Saturday, Gennady Golovkin will meet Canelo Alvarez for their trilogy fight on DAZN pay-per-view at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. But, Golovkin is not sure what he needs to change in his game to defeat Canelo.
Golovkin (42-1-1, 37 KOs) feels what he did in two previous fights with the superstar should have resulted in him getting his hand raised. He thinks that the human factor came into the playground, and he’s hoping that it won’t happen if he knocks out Canelo (57-2-2, 39 KOs) to get the victory.
Fans thought the bouts were full of controversy and believed Canelo was given a gift in both fights. Canelo, who started out strong in the first six, fell apart and was outboxed and out-punched by Golovkin from rounds seven through 12. But the judges gave a draw decision instead of a win for Golovkin.
Gennady Golovkin vs Canelo Alvarez

So it is with the second. The judges gave it to Canelo by a 12 round majority decision, although fans thought the fight appeared to be either a draw or a win by Golovkin.
Looking back at that match, it’s difficult to see it as a victory for Canelo because he had nothing to left in the tank in the second half. To be sure, Canelo didn’t fade as bad a he did against Dmitry Bivol last May, but pretty close.
Win Over Canelo Alvarez Is The Biggest Victory For The 40-year-old Gennady “GGG” Golovkin
Golovkin, 40, can obviously change elements of his game to improve his chance of winning, because he made mistakes in both fights. Golovkin didn’t throw combinations, and he didn’t stay on the outside against Canelo often enough to avoid getting hit.
At this level, it’s not easy to KO a fighter like Canelo, who has only rarely been hurt and has never been off his feet.
“It’s hard for me to say what needs to be changed because it does not depend on me. Of course, I know I need to get in the ring and show the best of me, the best of boxing,” said Golovkin when asked what he has going to change to defeat Canelo.
“At the same time, we’re talking about human factor here. We’re talking about honesty and fairness with judges. Sometimes you need to be head and shoulders above your opponent to deliver a victory by scoring, as the last fight showed (for Canelo against Bivol).
“You saw the scores, and they did not reflect what we saw in the ring. It was not as close as the scores. We’re talking about human factors here,” said Golovkin.
If it turns out that in the end the result does not match what the fans see, then it is purely for business purposes only. But hopefully, the judges don’t screw things up and pick the wrong fighter because that would taint the outcome and ruin the perception fans have of the Canelo-Golovkin rivalry worse than it already is now. *zz
FightersTalkTV.com – In a press conference that broke new ground for the amount of respect and appreciation on display, Jake “The Problem Child” Paul and Anderson “The Spider” Silva showed that fighters don’t have to exchange insults to spread the word on a matchup that promises to deliver fireworks.
The two sat for Monday’s kickoff press conference to hype their mega fight on Saturday, October 29 at Gila River Arena in Phoenix, Ariz. live on SHOWTIME PPV contracted for eight rounds at a catchweight of 187 pounds. Paul and Silva even posed for photos together with Paul’s brother Logan to recreate a snapshot the trio took 13 years ago.

Paul has made no secret of his admiration for Silva, an MMA legend who holds the UFC record for the longest title reign in the organization’s history (nearly seven years) and the most consecutive UFC victories (16) and has now successfully transitioned to boxing.
“I signed up for the hardest sport in the world and I love it. That’s what I’m built for, and I love a challenge. I grew up idolizing (Silva). For me this is even surreal that I’m even sitting here, I need to take a moment to be like, ‘Is this real with all the cameras?’ I was sitting on a couch watching this guy as a kid and here we are.
“Anderson Silva is the nicest person, and we love him. If my opponent is a di**head, I’m going to treat him like a di**head and beat his ass. But I respect this man, I’m still going to knock him out, but respectfully knock him out.
“I’m built for this, sparring world champions in the gym getting ready for Anderson. Obviously he’s a southpaw, my first time going up against a southpaw. But I love this, man. I truly feel I was put on earth and destined to box, and this will be my biggest stage yet and biggest test yet. But I’m a young man and I’m excited to get this experience under my belt because the fights are just going to keep on getting bigger. This is just the start.
jake-paul (7)_1663034981
Jake Paul predicted the fight won’t go more than five rounds and will get a spider tattoo if Silva wins.
“Only been preparing as a pro really for three years, I made my pro debut less than three years ago. But time management is crucial. We have the best coaches, the best nutrition, and we just work hard man, that’s been the key to my success and the key to my brother’s success is just nonstop work every single day, showing up and being present you know? And to be honest man I’m addicted to this, so no matter how hard I have to work (I do it).”
Despite the mutual admiration, Paul predicted the bout won’t go past five rounds and pledged to get a spider tattoo if Silva wins.
“This is it. This is a make-or-break moment. I know I have someone who just beat a world champion of boxing right in front of me.
“Played them like a fiddle (the MMA community). Got them watching. In my pocket.
“If you beat me, I’ll get a spider tattoo.
“I have an opponent who is a real professional who will make weight and I won’t have to worry about doing a whole training camp.
“On the inside he gets a little shifty. We have sparring partners who will imitate him. He is the first southpaw I’m facing.”
“It won’t go more than five.”
paul-silva (9)
Anderson Silva voiced his appreciation for Paul.
Meanwhile, Anderson Silva has also voiced his appreciation for Paul and what he’s been able to accomplish in boxing in such a short time. Silva announced his return as a world-class boxer in June 2021 when he soundly defeated former middleweight boxing champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., via a split decision that wasn’t as close as the scores indicated.
“First of all, guys, everyone needs to respect this guy. Why? Because it opens the door for everyone to think about something new and I’m so excited and so happy to be here. How many years ago did you come to take a picture with your brother? I fought a lot in my entire life and I’m here again with the new generation. That’s the proof that everyone can do anything in their life if you believe in yourself and you have the passion and love.
“The energy involved in this fight is so amazing. A lot of people think about, ‘Anderson you’re crazy, why do you do that?’ You know what, that’s a good challenge for me because Gabriel and Elias and my son Kalyl beat me every day in the boxing training and I say, ‘I can do that, I think I can do that you know?’
“Boxing in my life is very special because I grew up watching a lot of boxing and training with Brazilian coaches. I come to this sport to show my respect to the sport and the professional fighters. I’m happy to be here to continue my job at 47.
“First of all, my motivation is that I love it. I love combat sports. Second of all, I have five kids. I love challenges my entire life. Every single time people ask me why I do this, I say I’m doing something I love.
“I train every day. I won’t stop training. I keep working because that’s my life. I will pass this to the new generation, do your best.
“You don’t need to get a spider tattoo. I know you’re my fan. I’m your fan too. Big fan. I hate tattoos bro. I don’t have tattoos.
“It’s the same energy, a fight is a fight. I’m training and doing my best.”

FightersTalkTV.com – Chris Eubank Sr dramatically demands his son Chris Eubank Jr be pulled out of the fight against Conor Benn due to concerns over 157lb catchweight. He insists that he doesn’t want to lose another son after Eubank Jr’s brother Sebastian, tragically died last year in aged 29.
“His life cannot be put in danger, I’ve already lost one son. I can’t lose another,” said Eubank Sr in a video call involving Nigel and Conor Benn. He also claimed he would not allow his son to fight below the 160lb middleweight limit and pleaded with his rival for help.
Chris Eubank Sr has claimed he is pulling his son out of his grudge match with Conor Benn
Chris Eubank Sr has claimed he is pulling his son out of his grudge match with Conor Benn.
Chris Eubank Jr and Benn are due to meet at London’s O2 Arena on October 8, re-igniting a family feud three decades after their fathers met in the second instalment of British boxing’s greatest rivalry.
The British boxing legend Chris Eubank Sr cornered his son for much of the early part of his career but has taken a back seat in more recent years. The 56-year-old said he could take legal action, ”If they’re not going to listen to me, then they’ll have to listen to my King’s Counsel. That fight does not happen.
“If he doesn’t take the advice then I have to put my foot down. Have you ever heard of Russian Roulette?” Eubank said. “When you spin that barrel, that’s what he’s doing and that I can’t let him.
“I’ve given him my direction. If he doesn’t want to follow it, he will be dragged along. But he will do what is right for him, he is coming down 1oz below 160lbs which cannot happen on my watch.”
Eubank Sr added: “This is modern day ‘gladiating’, this is not a play thing for the audience. We have to be strict otherwise lives are put in danger and my son’s life cannot be put in danger.
“I’ve already lost one. It can’t happen again, if you have a child and someone’s trying to actually take that child away from you, and do something wrong to that child, as a dad you wouldn’t let them. That’s all I’m doing.”
His comments were definitely a surprise to both Benn, Nigel and Conor, who also joined the video call and insisted: “All I know was the weight was agreed”.
Nigel Benn (left) said all he knew was that the weight for the fight was already agreed on
Nigel Benn (left) said all he knew was that the weight for the fight was already agreed on.
Nigel Benn continued asking his old rival, “So you’re putting your foot down, saying to your son, at 32 years old, this fight is not happening?” to which Eubank Sr responded, “Absolutely.”
It was then pointed out that Junior signed a contract. Conor even promised, “No one is going to get hurt. That isn’t the intention for the sport, or my intention.”
Eubank Sr urged Conor Benn to remain at his weight class instead pursue the like Errol Spence and Terence Crawford.
“If your dad won’t protect my son, if they won’t allow me to protect my son, you protect him,” Sr told Benn. “Why would I be in his corner, in a fight where he’s coming in, in a situation where he can lose his life.
“He doesn’t know who you are. I know who you are. That fight doesn’t happen unless he fights at 160 and he’s not fighting you because that’s not the way for him.
“I would advise you Conor, not to fight my son at 160, because he has the ability to destroy the rest of your career.”
“I gave my son his instructions and he chose to follow a different (path), but he can’t override his dad. Because his dad is speaking sense and who will back me up? The public.
Eubank Sr also invoked the memory of previous tragedies involving himself, his son and Nigel Benn to highlight the dangers of this sport.
“When they understand: I lost a son, Michael Watson happened, Gerald McClellan happened, Nick Blackwell happened, and the many warriors who have fallen or are disabled because of contests in the ring,” he said.
“You cannot come down in weight, especially against a fighter of the magnitude of Mr king, Conor Benn. This ain’t no joke.”
Later, Conor Benn wrote on his social media on Monday night, “Just sparred 10 rounds.. While someone’s having DADDY ISSUES.”
The two are scheduled to face off in London on October 8, but the fight is now in doubt
The two are scheduled to face off in London on October 8, but the fight is now in doubt.
Sources on both sides insist the fight will go on as planned – as only the boxer can pull themselves out of a fight – but after the Eubank Sr demands, there will be significant financial penalties in place, should either fighter come in over the 157lb catchweight.

FightersTalkTV.com – Oleksandr Usyk has called out Tyson Fury for his next fight after a rematch win over Anthony Joshua last month. Fury, who had announced his retirement before the rematch, suddenly cancelled his plan and answered the call. Many fans believed the fight would be the biggest of the undisputed heavyweight champions’ clashes in the modern boxing era.
However, their expectation that this megafight would take place at the end of the year will not be realised. Usyk has explained that he suffered a recurrence of old injuries against AJ and wants to spend time with his family.
The Gipsy King himself has insisted that he wants the fight in December and so accused his rival of ‘running away’ by delaying until 2023. But he has stated to have another fight by mentioning AJ could be a replacement before the clash against Usyk.
Fury has had a lot to say about Usyk in recent weeks
Tyson Fury had a lot to say about Usyk in recent weeks.
Fury said, “I still think, even though he’s lost three of his last five fights, I still think people would like to see that fight. So if Oleksandr Usyk can’t be ready and doesn’t want the fight for whatever reason – a middleweight against a giant behemoth heavyweight, I could understand why he doesn’t want it.
“If that fight doesn’t happen, then we’ll go and offer AJ the fight.”
Fury challenged AJ for the fight for which home fans been waiting for years, and tweeted, “Yo @anthonyjoshua what you saying big G let’s give the fanz what they want as Usyk is b****ing??? I got the date and venue who will rule Britannia?”
The tweet followed an early video, also posted on Twitter, where Fury posed with his belts to call out his British rival. “I think you’ve all heard that I’m going to be fighting in the next few months. I think that before I announce an opponent, I need to do this, just in case,” Fury said.
Joshua responded after Fury called him out on social media about the potential fight
Fury called Anthony Joshua out on social media about the potential fight.
“Anthony Joshua, I know you’ve just lost a fight to Usyk and you’re beltless at the moment. I’d like to give you an opportunity to fight me for the WBC heavyweight championship of the world and the lineal championship in the next few months.
“You’re coming off a 12-round fight, you’re match fit, you’re ready. I’m giving you a few months’ notice. If you’re interested, I’ll send you a date over and we can rumble. A battle of Britain for the WBC heavyweight championship of the world.
“Let me know if you’re interested, if not, I will select another opponent.”
Joshua, seeking a way back from consecutive losses to Usyk, has vowed to jump at the chance of instant redemption. He replied, “Yea calm. I don’t do the online discussions just for clout, so if your really about it shout @258mgt. I’ll be ready in December. Khalas”.
The pair have been exchanging messages on social media in recent days and today, Fury has given his strongest hint yet that a fight will happen. The latest, Fury has continued discussions on social media revealing his offer to the 33-year-old who lost his last fight to Usyk last month. Fury has said that he would propose a 60:40 split, with the current champion taking the higher share.
He said: “Hi guys, I’m being bombarded with messages on how much am I going to pay AJ and everyone’s saying is it going to be 80:20, 70:30, 75:25 – the actual answer is that I’ve offered him 60:40.
“40 per cent of this amazing fight because I want this fight to happen – he doesn’t have any excuses now not to take it. He can’t say I’ve low-balled him and offered him 20, 30 per cent – I’ve offered the people 40 per cent and take it or leave it”.
It remains to be seen whether or not Joshua will take the offer, but with a deal in excess of the 80:20 split for Fury’s last fight with Dillian Whyte, it would represent a generous deal for a fight that people would like to see.
By the way, the Fury’s purse split offer shows it has two meanings; either Fury is not sure he can beat AJ in the Battle of Britain or he is a law-balling fighter. What do you think guys?
FightersTalkTV.com – For the Matchroom boss, Eddie Hearn, the dream of Joshua becoming a three-time heavyweight champion is still very much alive. As is the possibility of fighting Wilder. As is the possibility of fighting Fury.
Hearn is confident of delivering a huge stadium fight between Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte next summer as he plots ‘AJ’s return against a top 15-ranked opponent in December. With the path now clear for Usyk and Tyson Fury to fight for the undisputed championship, Joshua will embark on a new stage of his career, one that will likely get underway in the end of the year.
“We’re all gunning for a December return,” Hearn told Sportsmail on Wednesday. “It’s not confirmed, but that’s where everyone’s minds are at.
Hearn expects Joshua's next fight to be in London after his most recent outing in Saudi Arabia
Eddie Hearn has laid out his plans for Anthony Joshua after his defeat to Oleksandr Usyk.
“We’re not booking a venue, but the conversations – as recently as yesterday – was December for his return. I don’t want to start mentioning names, but it’s a top 15 fight.”
Deontay Wilder Turns On The Green Light To Come Back
Hearn ruled out a possible long-awaited showdown against Deontay Wilder, though stressing a bout could take place down the line and insisting it would be bigger than an undisputed fight between Usyk and Fury. He also revealed it won’t be former foes Whyte or Andy Ruiz Jr.
“It will be someone credible, who AJ can come back, express himself against and build on what he’s learning in camp,” Hearn added. “He can then build himself back up to fighting for a heavyweight title again.” The likes of Zhilei Zhang and Otto Wallin would certainly fall into that category.
“I’d like to bring him home,” he said. “Look, there’s the Zhang fight. A lot of people think he beat Filip Hrgovic and that’s a big fight in China, but I just feel that the next fight should be in the UK.”
“It will be at the O2 or Manchester Arena, we won’t do a stadium fight,” he added.
With mandatories no longer an issue, and an undisputed showdown no longer an option – for now, anyway – Hearn is planning to get AJ traveling once more after making his return.
“Now Joshua is in control of his own future,” he said. “We can fight who we want, when we want, where we want, and let’s go on an AJ world tour. I want London, I want Vegas, I want Beijing, I want the Middle East, and I want Australia. We can do all of that in a year.”
When asked if Joshua vs Whyte will be targeted for a stadium fight, Hearn said, “For sure, it is a fight we all want.
“The two biggest fights out there away from the world title fight are the Dillian Whyte fight which must happen. It is a huge stadium fight next summer.
“The other is the Deontay Wilder fight which is arguably the biggest fight in boxing – even bigger than Fury vs Usyk, in all honesty. Two big fights and whoever has the belts at the of the summer, we will also be targeting.”
He added: “The Dillian Whyte fight is definitely easier to make than the Wilder fight. But they are, as always, going to be wanted to be paid as much money as possible.
“But I think it is quite easy for me to make that fight. AJ wants that fight, Dillian wants that fight and that’s a fight we will definitely see next summer.
Anthony Joshua vs Dillian Whyte
Joshua and Whyte both want the fight, says the Matchroom chief.
“I don’t want to throw out names but anyone in the top 15,” Hearn said. “It is not going to be Wilder or Whyte next, but the others around the top 15 with the governing bodies.
“I don’t see him having a problem fighting them. He is not going to want to go back and fight an embarrassing fight, he doesn’t want that and we don’t want that. We want to have him in fights where he can continue to learn and progress.”
Anthony Joshua Throws Usyk’s Belts Out of Ring After Loosing in Jeddah
Hearn continued, “I have chatted to him a few times and he’s alright. I think the combustion after the fight that we saw, that was a good thing for him. There has been that pressure and emotion building up over the last few years and the weight he has been carrying on his shoulders. It was good for him to get that out.”
After Joshua fell to a second-straight defeat to Oleksandr Usyk earlier in August, having lost his WBA, WBO, and IBF belts to the Ukrainian mastermind in September last year, his record is now at 24-3. It seems the loss made his journey go blurry, which is driven by his promoter, who is trying his best to find a good fight for him.

FightersTalkTV.com – The collision between the WBO number one rank Joe Joyce and two Joseph Parker got some extra stakes for their clash at the AO Arena, Manchester on September 24. The WBO officially sanctioned it as an interim world heavyweight title fight, citing the ongoing negotiations for Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk.
Nothing technically changes about the fight itself, as it was already scheduled for 12, but it’s nice to see Joyce (14-0, 13 KO) finally get his long-overdue shot. He’s been in line for a crack at the title since stopping Daniel Dubois in November 2020, but the Fury vs Joshua debacle kept him in limbo until the fight collapsed and Usyk got called up to challenge “AJ.”
For Parker (30-2, 21 KO), it’ll be his first crack at a belt since losing the WBO title to Joshua in 2018. He turned down an IBF final eliminator against Filip Hrgovic earlier this year, a move that’s resulted in both a direct shot at the belt and a much more lucrative opponent.
Joseph Parker and Joe Joyce were set to collide in the summer
Joseph Parker and Joe Joyce is set to collide for the WBO Interim heavyweight title on September 24.
Whoever wins will certainly be a worthy champion, and though Fury vs Usyk will almost certainly have a rematch clause that pushes any other possible defenses into 2024, one would hope that a full title shot will come sooner rather than later.
The ‘Nowhere to Run’ blockbuster on 24 September is being shown exclusively live on BT Sport Box Office and is promoted by Frank Warren for Queensberry Promotions in association with BOXXER.
Parker Has Set Goals
In what should have been a period of great fulfillment six years ago, there was something missing for Parker that he struggled with at the time. He can now put this void down to chasing dreams that weren’t his own.
Becoming a parent for the first time to Elizabeth made Parker understand his own discontent at a time when he should have been embracing national hero status in his native New Zealand.
“When I wasn’t a father I was doing boxing for myself because I enjoyed it, but mostly for others,” explained Parker on the Unibet Lowdown. “I’m not sure how this sounds, but I was doing it more for my dad because it was his dream and I was doing it more for my coach Kevin (Barry), who wanted to have a heavyweight world champion.
“When I achieved it I sort of wasn’t the happiest, maybe because it was for them. Now that I have my wife and my kids, in boxing, I am a lot more motivated because I want to do it for myself and my immediate family.”
Joseph Parker would love to fight Tyson Fury as he is 'the best heavyweight there is at the moment' | GiveMeSport
Parker and Tyson Fury became close friends after Parker defeated Fury’s cousin, Hughie, for the WBO title in 2017.
Parker has set out clear goals for the remaining chapters of his boxing story and, while returning to the heavyweight top table features strongly, he is more about the here and now and taking as much as he can from every single experience.
“I think I went through exactly the same thing, but I didn’t look at it as mental health at the time. Now I have had more discussions about it, maybe I did go through the same thing, I just didn’t realize.
Joe Joyce vs Joseph Parker: The Highly-rated Heavyweight Collide on September 24
“I was still training and fighting, but wasn’t enjoying it. I didn’t want to associate with people and didn’t want to talk, I was out there doing this and that. I was still fighting but wasn’t training properly. I wasn’t doing anything right because I didn’t want to do it. But I was still doing it and doing it with no purpose.
“Now I have a purpose. Now I am motivated. Now I am driven. I have my wife and my kids at home who I have left and I have missed a lot of special occasions because of this goal that I have.”
“I don’t write them down but I do have them in my head. I should write them down, that would be a good thing to do. My goal, further out there, is to be heavyweight champion of the world. I think it would be amazing to have a fighter from New Zealand and Samoa be a two-time world champion.
“The goal is to appreciate each fight, appreciate the moment, to live in the moment and be present. If I think about stuff way down there I am not going to enjoy the process. I want to enjoy the training, the food, everything that is involved with the camp.
“I want to enjoy going home and seeing my family after a camp but, for now, I am in camp and I am going to enjoy every single moment of it.
“Now it is about the journey, the destination will take care of itself.”
If the tale sounds familiar, it is because Parker’s great friend and training partner Tyson experienced similar emotions on becoming a unified champion and subsequently spiraled into a mire of serious mental health issues that he recovered from in a most remarkable way.

FightersTalkTV.com – The popular YouTuber went to work inside the O2 Arena in London, England on Saturday in the main event of the KSI: 2 Fights, 1 Night card. KSI lived up to his promise to fight twice in the same night as he picked up a pair of knockouts in his return to the ring.
KSI previously faced Logan Paul in back-to-back fights, made quick work of late notice opponent Swarmz before doing much the same to 2-5 professional boxer Luis Alcaraz Pineda.
In KSI’s first bout of the night, he took on rapper Swarmz, who was clearly outmatched from the start. Swarmz was constantly back peddling, while KSI constantly moved forward and didn’t let his foot off the gas. Swarmz went down in the second round and that was all.
KSI knocked out Swarmz in two rounds
KSI knocked out Swarmz in the second round of their internet celebrity boxing fight at London’s O2 Arena, Saturday.
KSI’s night wasn’t done here, however. He would later trade leather with pro boxer Luis Alcaraz Pineda. Some felt that Pineda may have proven to be a tough test for KSI. That ultimately wasn’t the case.
Pineda appeared to be more interested in arguing with the referee rather than fighting. KSI ended up dropping Pineda three times in the opening frame. The fight ended up going to the third round, where KSI finished the job.
2 Fights 1 Night: KSI vs. Swarmz, KSI vs. Pineda: Best photos
KSI second win of the night after ended Luis Alcaraz Pineda with the three-round knockout.
After his dominant victories, KSI called for a bout with controversial kickboxer Andrew Tate. Tate ended up responding to KSI, claiming that he is a hypocrite, and said he’d accept the challenge.
“Ladies and gentlemen, are you not entertained?” KSI shouted to a packed house at the 02 Arena. “Two fights, one night, two KO’s. I talked the talk and I walked the walk.”
“Slim [Albaher] looks good, I want a piece of that,” KSI said about another fighter on the same card. “Austin [McBroom] vs. AnEson Gib, I want the winner of that. Andrew Tate, I want a piece of that. Tommy Fury, I want a piece of that. I’m warmed up and I’m excited. Nothing can harm me.”
Of course the one name missing was Jake Paul, who had tried to land the fight with KSI after his original opponent fell out due to injury.
“Legit, there’s so many people I need to go through before I get to Jake,” KSI said. “Jake is definitely the main goal but soon come. Just getting my work in, getting my rounds in,” closed KSI.
Jake Paul Reacts
It’s no secret that Jake Paul and KSI do not like each other where the two were going at one another back-and-forth on Twitter. After KSI scores two knockouts in one night, Paul reacts in his twitter.
“Smart man KSI is not calling me out. He knows the truth.”
KSI and Paul went back and forth on social media prior to the August 27 event. The two agreed to collide down the road on Twitter but nothing has been set in stone at this time.
KSI made the initial proposal:
“I’m gonna send you a contract. We fight next year. Wembley Stadium. Winner of the fight takes all. 100% of the purse will be on the line. Put your money where your mouth is and let’s finally end this. Will you accept? @jakepaul”
Paul accepted the challenge but he had a request.
“Good morning guy ‘fighting’ rapper with a t-shirt on. Your hometown & winner takes all. 1000% I accept, but one condition… You have to reply and admit that as of TODAY when it comes to boxing I am better”
KSI followed up, making it clear that he wants this fight to go down.
“As of today in boxing you’re better. Let’s run it b***h.”

FightersTalkTV.com – After four years as the WBO middleweight champion, Demetrius Andrade has officially vacated the belt. He will now be moving up to 168 in hopes of positioning himself for a big money payday against undisputed champion Canelo Alvarez. It makes interim Janibek Alimkhanuly has been moved up to the new champ.
It doesn’t come as a complete surprise that the American Andrade has chosen to vacate his WBO 160lb belt, as he never seemed excited about the prospect of fighting the unbeaten 2016 Olympian Janibek (12-0, 8 KOs) from the get-go, as that would have been a very grueling fight at this stage of his 14-year professional career.
Liam Williams
Demetrius Andrade retains WBO middleweight title when fight against Liam Williams in April 2021.
Andrade is more focused on trying to force a title shot against four-belt super middleweight champion Canelo because there’s a heck of a lot more dough for him to make in a fight against the Mexican star.
The Rhode Island native Andrade captured his WBO title in October 2018, beating Walter Kautondokwa 12 round unanimous decision. In the for years that Demetrius held onto the WBO belt, he successfully defended it five times against lesser opposition.
Andrade had hoped when he moved up to 168 that he would be able to use his WBO belt to get well-paying fights against Canelo, Gennady Golovkin, and Jermal Charlo. Unfortunately for him, none of those fighters showed any interest in fighting him, which isn’t surprising given that he’s a crafty southpaw with excellent power and size.
Boxing: Jermall Charlo's cheap shot at Canelo Alvarez: 'He doesn't want to fight' | Marca
Andrade hopes could fight againts Jermal Charlo or Canelo Alvarez in 168lb.
The only noteable fighter that would be willing to fight him ata 168 is David Benavidez, and that’s not a good match-up for Demetrius. Benavidez is too young, strong, and big for the aging Andrade.
If Andrade sticks it out at 168, the best he could hope for fight is against Benavidez, John Ryder, Edgar Berlanga, Caleb Plant, and Anthony Dirrel. Some of those guys likely won’t want to mix it up with Andrade because of his slick fighting style and power.
It’s difficult to imagine Caleb Plant agreeing to fight Andrade because he’s trying to get a rematch with Canelo, and he doesn’t want to lose again.

FightersTalkTV.com – After weeks of negotiating for the fight, the World Boxing Association (WBA) were able to grant Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez who was the mandatory to Dmitry Bivol an opportunity set for November 5th in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
WBA Light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol will return six months after a career-defining win against boxing superstar Canelo Alvarez, this time around against undefeated Mexican star Ramirez.
Dmitry Bivol (20-0, 11 KOs) had undoubtedly one of the biggest upsets in recent memory when he outclassed Canelo Alvarez this past May. Though many knew going into the bout Bivol would be a hard test for the undisputed super middleweight champ, Bivol didn’t just prove those theories right but went as far as to make it seem Canelo didn’t even belong in the ring with him.

Dmitry Bivol defended his World Boxing Association light heavyweight title with a win against Canelo Alvarez by unanimous decision last May at Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena.
Fans wanted Bivol to fight for the undisputed 175lb championship against unified champion Artur Beterbiev or face Canelo Alvarez in a rematch. But unfortunately, the boxing world only served up a fight in which Bivol easily outboxed the slow as molasses Ramirez (44-0, 30 KOs).
Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez runs a perfect record and has held the WBO super middleweight title. He has been yearning for a big fight for years now, and though he didn’t get a big fight against Canelo like he has been asking for, facing off against one of two men to defeat him in the last 10 years is a great conciliation prize.
Devin Haney vs George Kambosos II: Confirmed to Fight on October 16
Ramirez’s last outing was a fourth-round knockout win against Dominic Boesel in May. With 30 of his 44 wins coming by stoppage, Ramirez has proved he brings power into the ring, and with a crafty boxer like Bivol, catching him with a patented power shot will be pivotal to defeat him.
Despite that, he hasn’t done much since moving up to 175 in 2019 and focused on beating middle-of-the-road fodder level opposition to pad his record. He gained nearly 30 pounds in going from 174 to 203. The thing is, he didn’t look fat at the weight. He was just painfully slow and looked like a fighter that had packed on too much weight.

FightersTalkTV.com – The WBC heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury has decided to stay in boxing and continue his career. That is mean the ‘Gipsy King’ ready for the next fight and retain his green and gold belt. Fury has instructed his promoters to inform the WBC that he intends to continue fighting, Sky Sport reported.
Fury, 34, had floated the prospect of retiring and the WBC had given him until Friday August 26 to confirm whether or not he would retain its belt. But the WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman had extended Fury’s deadline to next Friday, September 2, due to the news that Fury’s cousin was stabbed to death earlier this week.
Sulaiman tweeted: “The @WBCBoxing acknowledging the tragedy which happened in the Fury family and in respect of their grief has decided to extend one week until Friday September 2 the official decision of @Tyson_Fury regarding his status as heavyweight.”
The news is expexted by many, that an undisputed championship fight with Oleksandr Usyk, the recent conqueror of Anthony Joshua, is still firmly in Fury’s sights. After his last bout Usyk went as far to declare that the only contest he was interested in now was Fury.
Fury continued to leave the door open when Oleksandr Usyk won in his rematch against Anthony Joshua, retaining the WBA, WBO and IBF titles. Fury posted a video on social media saying that he would “annihilate” Usyk.
Tyson Fury Wants £500 Million For Usyk Super Fight
Usyk’s promoter, Alex Krassyuk has already told Sky Sports the Tyson Fury fight is “in the making”. Fury’s decision to retain the WBC belt is another step towards that showdown.
“Both fighters want it,” Frank Warren, Fury’s co-promoter has said.
“I’m confident we can make it happen and crown Tyson Fury as the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. It will be the biggest heavyweight fight in my time in boxing.”
Sulaiman is also praised Fury and hopes the fight goes ahead.
“Tyson Fury is the WBC champion of the world, he’s not holding the ‘other belt’, he’s holding the WBC Championship which is the Championship of Muhammed Ali, George Foreman, Frazier, Tyson, Lennox Lewis etc,” Sulaiman told Sky Sports.
Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk, Is That Gonna Be Happen?
“I’m very proud of Tyson Fury, he’s a tremendous fighter and I am sure he wishes to continue boxing and a fight to unify all the championships in the division would be tremendous. We have given Tyson Fury the time to evaluate and be ready to make a proper decision and have until this Friday, on the 26th, to receive his written confirmation of what he will be deciding to do.
“But my personal opinion is that boxing is going through a great stage, a great moment, it will be great to see Fury against Usyk in the ultimate unification of the division.”
By looking at how quick he decided to be back in the sport, it seems somebody out there has been ready for the £500 million that Fury has asked for the super fight against Usyk. It’s getting more interesting to hear when and where the undisputed heavyweight champion clash will be held.

FightersTalkTV.com – The trainer Robert Garcia, who has accompanied Anthony Joshua since eight months before the Usyk rematch, admitted the fighter was mentally defeated in round 10. He realized it when Oleksandr Usyk came back strong after a big ninth round for AJ in which they thought would win the fight.
“Joshua was mentally defeated since round 10 or 11,” Rober Garcia told Izquierdazo. “Round 10 was a big one for Usyk. That changed the whole fight, and mentally we were defeated. At that point, we were relying on a good shot or something like that, because Anthony is a hard puncher, and one shot can change a fight. That is what we were hopping for, one shot, because he (AJ) was dominated at that point of the fight.”
Joshua lost by way of split decision to Usyk, who successfully defended his IBF, WBO and WBA heavyweight belts after staging a late surge against the British challenger. Garcia claims his fighter was his own worst enemy as Usyk lifted himself from the tenth round, which entirely changed the complexion of the bout.
Robert Garcia is confident Anthony Joshua will beat Oleksandr Usyk in their rematch
Robert Garcia believed they had the fight until Usyk came alive in the final three rounds.
According to Garcia, Joshua’s team told themselves the fight was theirs to lose in the ninth round, and the American trainer has since questioned the Brit’s mental strength at the highest level.
“The fight was going well for us, but the tenth round changed everything,” Garcia said. “The last three rounds of the fight were the ones that changed the fight. In the ninth round we were close to winning, perhaps even by knockout. Through round nine, we were winning the fight on judges scorecards, but it was decided in the last rounds. Usyk is a great fighter, with a tremendous heart, who knows how to finish strong, like champions do.”
Anthony Joshua Throws Usyk’s Belts Out of Ring After Loosing in Jeddah
“During that ninth round, me and the guys in the corner were telling ourselves that we had the fight. But nothing is secured until the final bell. Usyk came back stronger in the tenth round and that changed the fight.
He said AJ's corner believed they had the fight until Usyk came alive in the final three rounds
Usyk successfully defended his IBF, WBO and WBA heavyweight belts after staging a late surge against AJ.
“I have even thought in these last few days that it was Anthony Joshua who mentally defeated himself. In the ninth, Joshua threw a lot of punches and almost put Usyk out. Maybe he emptied [his tank], but maybe it was just that Usyk came stronger and more motivated to the tenth round, we don’t know.
“In this fight, I think that Usyk was mentally stronger. I think he was stronger, to the point that after being close to a knockout, instead of giving up, he came back stronger. His will and his desire to demonstrate to his country that he couldn’t let himself lose the fight, made him come back.
“He wanted to give a message to his country, for everything that is happening there. He is a big inspiration for them [Ukrainians]. His mind was what made him turn the tide in the fight and get him to victory. And I think that Anthony’s mind is a bit weaker than Usyk’s, because instead of going out stronger, his mind and exhaustion played games with him.
Oleksandr Usyk vs Anthony Joshua 2 | Usyk Retained His Domination in Heavyweight After Win Against Anthony Joshua
“Because of my own experience, I can notice when a fighter is mentally defeated. In such a situation, instructions don’t work, because the fighter is not listening anymore, his mind collapses. What we did with Anthony was trying to motivate him and not giving instructions on how to win the fight. You have to instill images, like his family, to switch him on, but that didn’t work either.”
Garcia is right, Usyk is a great fighter who knows how to finish a fight like a champion does. Particularly in response to AJ’s throw belts moment.
FightersTalkTV.com – Following Oleksandr Usyk’s repeat win over Anthony Joshua and calling out Fury at the post-fight press conference, many want Fury to end his retirement and face the Ukrainian for the undisputed heavyweight title.
Fury, who took social media immediately after the fight, said those people who wish to see him fight against Usyk have to get their checkbooks out. And he wasn’t joking, he wants a half billion to fight “Ukrainian dosser” Usyk. Fury really showing zero class towards Usyk, a man who has literally been fighting for his country.
“If you want those belts back, let’s send in the Gypsy barbarian of England, come on,” said Fury.
“Send me in. I will relieve the Ukrainian dosser of his belts like I did the last Ukrainian dosser. But it’s not gonna be cheap. The world’s biggest fight has to be the world’s biggest money, if I’m going to put it all on the line against some unknown foreigner,” he wrote.
“Boys, better get that half a billy. If not, keep that little mug. If it was AJ it would have been free but it’s not”.
Fury also yesterday issued an ultimatum for organisers to arrange an undisputed heavyweight title fight against Usyk by next Thursday.
“To all these suitors out there who want to make the fight, I’m going to give you all seven days, until September 1, to come up with the money,” said Fury.
“If not, thank you very much, it’s been a blast. I’m retired,” Fury said on social media.
He added, “All offers submitted must be to my lawyer Robert Davis in writing with proof of funds. So let the games begin. Boom!”
World Boxing Council president Mauricio Sulaiman, meanwhile, praised Fury and hopes the fight goes ahead.
“Tyson Fury is the WBC champion of the world, he’s not holding the ‘other belt’, he’s holding the WBC Championship which is the Championship of Muhammed Ali, George Foreman, Frazier, Tyson, Lennox Lewis etc,” Sulaiman told Sky Sports
Tyson Fury
Fury stated it will take a lot of money to tempt him out of retirement.
Talked to Talk Sport, Fury add, “It’s August 24. They have a week to submit their offers. I want it in writing with proof of funds. It’s the biggest fight in the world so it needs the biggest pay in the world. Mayweather got £400 million to fight Pacquaio, I want £500 million. I know they (the Saudis) have got the money. They offered Tiger Woods $1 billion. I have no realinterest in Usyk. A pumped-up middleweight. It’s not my fault he gone and battered AJ, some bodybuilder. There has only ever been me. They try to compete, but they get beat. I could beat Usyk on a week’s training. Because he’s a middleweight. I’ll put my fists right through him.”
According to the Daily Mail, the fight would be on December 17 in Saudi Arabia, the night before the World Cup final in Qatar.
Is any fighter worth £500 million? Is any fight worth such a sum of money? If you have an unlimited of cash to make some payments, you would not ever count how much money you will spend for extraordinary entertainment.

FightersTalkTV.com – Since winning the IBF and The Ring titles in 2019, which were his two first international crowns, Naoya Inoue finally has a chance to complete all four majors and become the undisputed bantamweight world champion by the end of the year. Inoue and Paul Butler have agreed to terms for an undisputed clash on December 13th in Japan.
WBO bantamweight champion Butler (32-2, 15 KOs) figures to be a huge underdog against the big-punch Inoue (23-0, 20 KOs), who looks unbeatable at this point in his career. “The Monster” Inoue, who has an 86% knockout ratio, won the WBC and the WBA (Super) titles by defeating Nonito Donaire in their two fights in 2019 and 2022.
With coming off as a winner, Inoue will possess all four titles in the 118lb weight class and decide whether to move up to 122 and attempt to collect all the belts or stay at bantamweight and defend his four straps.
Inoue, 29, stopped and knocked out Donaire in the second round in their rematch last June in Saitama, Japan. Donaire had given Inoue huge problems in their first match in November 2019, losing a grueling 12-round unanimous decision in a fight that saw both fighters hurt.
By the time Inoue finally got around to giving Donaire a rematch and it was a total slaughter. The 39-year-old Donaire had slowed down considerably from their first fight and was easy pickings for the superstar Inoue in the rematch.
Inoue defended his WBA/IBF titles while claiming Donaire’s WBC crown, becoming Japan’s first-ever three-belt titleholder in boxing history. He now aims to become the nation’s first-ever undisputed champion in the three- or four-belt era and Japan’s first undisputed champion in the splintered title era since 1975.
Naoya Inoue vs. Nonito Donaire 2 results: 'The Monster' demolishes brave veteran in two rounds to underline P4P status | Sporting News Singapore
Naoya Inoue inflicted a brutal beating on Nonito Donaire to win via a stunning second-round knockout and claimed the WBC belt in their rematch last June.
“If the negotiations go smoothly, of course I would like to fight for the fourth belt and become the undisputed bantamweight champion,” Inoue previously told BoxingScene.com, though also already exploring a contingency plan. “I would love to stay in the division. If (a fight with Butler) can’t be done, then I am capable of moving up (to junior featherweight).”
“I haven’t watched his bouts in their entirety, but I can see he is a talented and aggressive boxer,” Inoue said about Butler. “If I can unify the four bantamweight titles this year, I would like to move up to the super bantamweight division,” said the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world.
Devin Haney vs George Kambosos II: Confirmed to Fight on October 16
Joe Joyce vs Joseph Parker: The Highly-rated Heavyweight Collide on September 24
If Inoue moves up to 122lb, he can battle IBF/WBA champion Murodjon Akhmadaliev and WBC/WBO champ Stephen Fulton for their titles to try and become undisputed at super bantamweight. Ideally, it should be fast for Inoue to win all four belts, as long as his promoter Top Rank can get him the fights against those champions.
Butler (34-2, 15KOs) entered the mix after claiming the interim WBO title following a 12-round, unanimous decision over Jonas Sultan on April 22 in Liverpool, England. The fight was made after the 33-year-old from Ellesmere Point, England was twice denied the opportunity to face John Riel Casimero, a former three-division titlist who held the WBO bantamweight belt since November 2019. Two failed attempts to honor his mandatory with Butler saw the Filipino stripped of the belt and Butler upgraded to full champ from interim status earlier this spring.
Paul Butler
Butler beat late stand-in Jonas Sultan on points in Liverpool last April after Casimero pulled out of the bout.
Butler previously held the IBF bantamweight title, outpointing Stuart Hall in June 2014 before vacating in pursuit of winning a belt one division below at junior bantamweight. It proved futile, as Butler suffered his first career defeat in an eighth-round knockout at the hands of Zolani Tete in March 2015. Butler’s lone other loss came in a twelve-round decision to Emmanuel Rodriguez in their May 2018 vacant IBF bantamweight title fight.
Whoever gets out as a winner will be the first undisputed champion at bantamweight in close to 50 years. Especially for Inoue, if he made it, then he would put his name in history as a legend in the sport who completed all four major crowns in less than four years.

FightersTalkTV.com – The WBO’s top-rated heavyweight contenders, Joe Joyce and Joseph Parker have managed to salvage a deal to collide on Saturday, September 24 at the AO Arena in Manchester, England. The collision is between number one and two in the WBO rankings, in which the belt is held by Oleksandr Usyk.
The unbeaten Joyce (14-0, 13 KOs) – a 2016 Olympic silver medallist — holds the WBO International and WBC Silver heavyweight titles and is a former British, Commonwealth and European champion.
Parker (30-2, 21 KOs) previously held the WBO world title, winning the vacant belt against Andy Ruiz Jr. in 2016 and making successful defenses against Razvan Cojanu and Hughie Fury before losing on points in a unification fight against Anthony Joshua.
Joe Joyce and Joseph Parker with Frank Warren.
A relieved Frank Warren said: “It is one the fans want to see, so I am delighted to be taking this blockbuster fight to Manchester, the biggest indoor arena in the country, which we want to see packed to the rafters.”
Joe Joyce’s concrete chin has been perhaps his greatest strength during his steady climb toward a heavyweight title shot.
The hulking knockout artist’s ability to take even the flushest punches from big, strong opponents has helped him overcome defensive flaws that might’ve led less durable boxers to knockout defeats. Joseph Parker predicted that’s all about to end.
The former WBO heavyweight champion claimed that he’ll punch through Joyce’s aura of invincibility and knock him out when they meet September 24 at AO Arena in Manchester, England.
“I will hurt him,” Parker said. “Yeah, I will hurt Joe. … I’m gonna beat him, get him out of there and get the win. That’s what I’m gonna do.”
Joseph Parker vs Derek Chisora, WBO Intercontinental Heavyweight Title Fight, Manchester.18 December 2021.Picture By Mark Robinson Matchroom Boxing.
Joseph Parker retained his WBO Inter-Continental heavyweight title after defeated Derek Chisora in last December.
The 6-foot-6, 265-pound Joyce also predicted a knockout. In nearly five years as a pro, only American veteran Bryant Jennings has gone the distance with London’s Joyce (14-0, 13 KOs), who defeated Philadelpha’s Jennings (24-4, 14 KOs) by unanimous decision in a 12-rounder in July 2019 at O2 Arena in London.
Something must give, however, because Parker (30-2, 21 KOs) has not been knocked out in 32 professional fights. Former IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champ Anthony Joshua (24-2, 22 KOs) and British contender Dillian Whyte (28-3, 19 KOs) topped Parker by unanimous decision in back-to-back 12-rounders in 2018, but he has won six straight bouts since suffering his lone losses.
When Joyce joked about Parker’s punches amounting to tickles, the 6-foot-4, 250-pound Parker promised that Joyce will finally feel what 93 percent of his pro opponents have learned when they’ve encountered “The Juggernaut.”
“I’m gonna beat your ass up and get you out of there and get the win and then move on,” said Parker, whose past three fights have gone the 12-round distance. “Actually, oh sorry, you’ve locked me into a rematch clause. So, I’m gonna have a rematch with you again in December. I don’t need a rematch clause because I back myself.”

Joe Joyce stopped Christian Hammer in round 4 to retain his WBO international and WBC silver heavyweight titles at Wembley Arena, London, England, past July.
Joyce took offense to Parker’s reference to their rematch clause.
“I back myself, but, you know, I’m the ‘A’ side, so I’m entitled to my rematch clause,” Joyce said. “The fight’s on now, and I’m gonna put some dents into your face.”
Joyce, 36, and Parker, 30, will headline a BT Sport Box Office pay-per-view show in the United Kingdom and Ireland and on ESPN+ at 2 p.m. ET/11 a.m. PT. Joyce opened as a slight favorite (-166/+130), according to FanDuel.

FightersTalkTV.com – The second fight between Devin Haney and George Kambosos Jr. will take place next Oct. 16 at the Red Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia, with the World Boxing Association (WBA) lightweight Super Championship at stake, in addition to the IBF, WBC and WBO belts.
The 23-year-old American Haney retained his WBC lightweight title and added three more from the weight class after his unanimous points decision over Kambosos in front of more than 41,000 spectators at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium in June.

With that victory, Haney improved his undefeated record to 28-0 with 15 knockouts. He said he was happy to defend his belts and wanted to show how much he’s improved.
“It was a dream come true for me to become undisputed, my name be mentioned with the greats,” Haney said via video link. “But it doesn’t stop there. I want my name to be mentioned with the greats, still.”
As champion, Kambosos had a rematch clause and he exercised it without hesitation despite being outclassed with ease. The Greek-born Australian has been hitting the gym hard with the intention of correcting mistakes and changing actions to regain his belts in this fight.

Kambosos: Do or Die
Kambosos (20-1, with 10 KOs) enforced the rematch clause from the original contract and the next title fight will be staged at the smaller Rod Laver Arena, the main arena at the Australian Open tennis tournament each January.
Former unified lightweight world champion George Kambosos will attempt to turn the tide when he faces Haney. The winner of the upcoming encounter will be matched in 2023 against the victor of the upcoming lightweight clash between Vasiliy Lomachenko and Jamaine Ortiz – also taking place in October.
At this stage of the game, Kambosos indicates that he can’t afford to take another loss.

Kambosos has a chance to reclaim his IBF, WBO, WBA, WBC (Franchise) and The Ring titles in front of the fans.
“I’m 29 so for me it’s do or die,” Kambosos told reporters Tuesday. “If I don’t overcome this fight, you will not see me back in Australia fighting domestic guys; that’s not me. Everything I have I will be putting into that ring and me training, and god willing I will be victorious.”
Alternatively, he added, he’s in a good position because “I’m one victory away from being on the top again and having all the belts.”
“The changes will be made and I’m sure Haney is going to make more changes as well and I look forward to doing my talking in the ring,” Kambosos said.
“I just hope, for the fans and for the love of the sport that we give a good fight. We give an action fight, not a fight where there’s a lot of holding. I’m not going to take it away from Devin, a fantastic win, but hope the referee this time does justice for the fight.”
Kambosos’ promoter Lou DiBella said the Australian fighter would bring “a lot more fire” in the rematch.

FightersTalkTV.com – Anthony Joshua showed a shocking reaction in front of 30,000 fans in the Jeddah Super Dome in Saudi Arabia immediately after the result of his rematch against Oleksandr Usyk was announced. AJ who is losing a split decision on the judges’ scorecards, took the WBC and The Ring belts from Usyk and threw them out of the ring.
An emotional Joshua let his disappointment get the better of him as he confronted members of Usyk’s team before he showed his disrespect and conducted a bizarre post-fight speech. Instead of being angry, Usyk showed his gentle attitude and character as a true champion in a very calm way.
The 32-year-old, who later hailed Usyk as a “generational champion’’, remonstrated with his team as he left the ring. He then decided to return to the squared circle to shake hands with his opponent.
But as they talked in the ring, AJ said: “I don’t care about strong, I have to have skill.
“Being strong doesn’t win boxing. Skills win boxing. You’re not strong. How did you beat me? How? Because of skill.
“I had character and determination. Where’s the mic?”
A clearly emotional Joshua grab the microphone and address the crowd with a bizarre speech.
“Usyk, one hell of a f***ing fighter, let’s give him a round of applause. That’s just emotion. If you knew my story, you would understand my passion,” Joshua said at the start of his rant.
“I ain’t no f***ing amateur boxer from five years old that was an elite prospect from a youth. I was going to jail. I got bail and started training my ass off, because if I got sentenced, I wouldn’t be able to fight.”
“The f***ing passion we put into this s**t, man. This guy, to beat me tonight, maybe I could have done better, but it shows the levels of hard work he must have put in, so please give him a round of applause as our heavyweight champion of the world. Woo! Motherf****r!
“I’m not a 12-round fighter. Look at me! I’m a new breed of heavyweights. All them heavyweights — Mike Tyson, Sonny Liston, Jack Dempsey. ‘Oh, you don’t throw combinations like Rocky Marciano.’ ‘Cause I ain’t f***in’ 14 stone, that’s why! I’m 18 stone and I’m heavy! It’s hard work! This guy here is a phenomenal talent,” he went on.

“I was studying Ukraine and all the champions that have come from your amazing country. I ain’t never been there, but at the same time, what’s happening there is — I don’t know what’s happening, but it’s not nice at the end of the day,” Joshua told Usyk.

Joshua also conducted a bizarre post-fight speech after slumping to his third career defeat.
“For Usyk to be champion, under those circumstances … it’s incredible,” he concluded.
“This guy here is a phenomenal talent, we’re going to cheer for him three times.”
He then got the crowd to awkwardly cheer Usyk, who watched on baffled. Many felt the Brit was disrespectful to chuck two of Usyk’s belts in the heat of the moment.
AJ Tears in Press Conference
During the post-fight press conference, Joshua broke down in tears and was comforted by his promoter Eddie Hearn.
“Am I proud of myself? It’s really really hard for me to say I’m proud of myself. I don’t feel anything, I’m upset deep down in my heart,” said Joshua.

‘I’ll be the first to admit, I let myself down. I acted out of pure passion and emotion and when not controlled it ain’t great. I love this sport so, so much and I’ll be better from this point on.
“I had to mentally take myself into a dark place to compete for the championship belts. I had two fights, one with Usyk and one with my emotions and both got the better of me.
“It was just from the heart. I was mad at myself. Not at anyone, just at myself. Like anyone, when you’re angry you might do stupid things, so I was mad.
“But then I realized, “Oh s***, this is sport, let me do the right thing and come back”. I just spoke from my heart,” closed Joshua.
While Usyk is determined to fight Tyson Fury next.
“I’m sure that Tyson Fury is not retired yet,” said Usyk when he did finally get his hands on the mic.
“I’m sure, I’m convinced he wants to fight me.
“I want to fight him and if I’m not fighting Tyson Fury, I’m not fighting at all.”

Oleksandr Usyk once again earned a points win over Anthony Joshua on Saturday in Saudi Arabia.
Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs) already held the WBC world title when he defeated Mairis Breidis in January 2018 in the cruiserweight division. But in the heavyweight, he must face the WBC first rank Deontay Wilder (42-2-1, 41 KOs) to fill out his world heavyweight champion belts. If so, he has to wait at least until early next year to fight Wilder, who has been settled up to fight against Robert Helenius in October.

After Usyk VS Joshua Rematch, What Is Next?
The former WBC heavyweight champion Wilder, who had confirmed his return to boxing in May will restart his journey by fighting against Helenius in a WBC heavyweight eliminator in Barclays Center, New York on October 15. Previously, he had declared his retirement from the sport after his last trilogy bout loss to Tyson Fury in October 2021.
Deontay Wilder’s manager Shelly Finkel has suggested ‘The Bronze Bomber’ could fight the winner of Oleksandr Usyk vs Anthony Joshua next.
“Maybe the winner of Usyk and Joshua. I don’t know what Fury is doing? Maybe if Joshua wins it’s a huge fight in the UK (between those two) – there’s so many intangibles so we’re looking to see what happens in that fight,’ Finkel told Planet Sport a months ago.
Wilder Could Face The Winner of Usyk VS Joshua
However, the winner of the Rage On The Red Sea is Usyk, and he revealing that he may not even enter the ring again if he can’t take on the Gypsy King.
“The fight with Fury is the only one I want,” exclaimed the 35-year-old after his victory against Joshua. “If that doesn’t happen, I may not fight again. But I do believe we are going to fight each other soon.”
Usyk’s possible next fight for the WBC heavyweight title is definitely against “The Gipsy King” Tyson Fury. Fury, who is announced his retirement from the sport at his 34th birthday still has time until August 26 to send his official retirement letter to the WBC. And the Usyk vs Joshua rematch could be the one reason he hasn’t sent it.
A Potential Super Fight Could Be on Cards
The Gypsy King has repeatedly teased the prospect of returning to the ring since hanging up his gloves following his WBC heavyweight title defence against Dillian Whyte in April. With Usyk having kept hold of belts by beating Anthony Joshua for a second time on Saturday, a potential super fight could be on the cards.

Fury will reportedly take on Usyk in an undisputed world heavyweight title fight before the end of the year after previously insisting he had retired from boxing. The fight is set to take place in Saudi Arabia on Saturday, December 17 – just one day after the World Cup final goes ahead in neighbouring Qatar.
According to the Daily Mail, Team Fury are in talks with Usyk’s camp over a bout that would be worth even more than Saturday’s £85million bonanza. And the date of the contest is now pencilled in.
.
Fury had claimed he would return and face Usyk following Saturday’s fight, revealing in a deleted Instagram video: “England has been relieved of its belts but there is a remedy. If you want those belts back then send in the Gypsy barbarian.”
He went on to reference his win over Wladimir Klitschko as he added: “Send me in and I will relieve the Ukrainian dosser of his belts like I did the last Ukrainian dosser.
Tyson Fury Announced His Retirement To WBC, Is That Officially?
“But it’s not going to be cheap, if you want the best you have to pay. It’s going to be very expensive, so get your f***ing cheque book out and I will relieve the Ukrainian dosser of the belts.”
According to The Sun, Fury wants to be paid £125million to come out of retirement for a shot at the undisputed crown.
Sports Minister HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Saud has made clear that he is keen for Riyadh to host the bout, explaining: “We’re interested, that’s all I can say. We are open to that. We’re bidding for a lot of events. If it does happen, it will be hosted in Riyadh. But we still haven’t decided on anything.”
If it does happen, the fight will be the first time where all four belts were on the line since 2007 the undisputed heavyweight champion has included the WBO title. And Lennox Lewis was the last undisputed champion after beating Evander Holyfield in 1999.
