Zhilei Zhang's Bold Warning to Tyson Fury Is the Champion in for a Disaster?
Chinese heavyweight boxer Zhilei Zhang has thrown down the gauntlet, sending an ominous warning to Tyson Fury, hinting at an impending disaster for the undefeated champion. With Fury set to face Oleksandr Usyk after a lackluster performance against Francis Ngannou, Zhang, the 35-year-old from Wythenshawe, believes he possesses all the necessary tools to hand Fury his first professional defeat.
Fury's impressive record of 34-0-1 has been marred only by a draw against Deontay Wilder in 2018. Zhang, who suffered a sole defeat against Filip Hrgovic, has gained acclaim for his recent victories over Joe Joyce, suggesting that despite his age, he's a formidable force in the ring. Observing Fury's match against Ngannou, Zhang noted a lack of preparation, insinuating that Fury's mindset wasn't aligned for the bout. "I think Tyson Fury probably never trained for the Ngannou fight," Zhang expressed on the Town Bizznizz sports and entertainment YouTube channel. "When my punches land, it’s going to be a disaster for him."
Fueling speculation further, Zhang contends that he's deserving of bouts against the division's top names. While Wilder and Joshua were linked to potential fights, they are now scheduled to face other opponents in Saudi Arabia, leaving Zhang seeking his chance to challenge Fury, Usyk, Joshua, and Wilder. "I always wanted to get the big four names," Zhang emphasized. "But they don't want to fight me. They are running away from me."
Zhang's confident assertions and his belief in his punching power add an intriguing layer to the heavyweight boxing scene, leaving fans curious about the potential clash between the two giants in the ring. As the boxing world eagerly anticipates future matchups, Zhang's bold statements have set the stage for an electrifying showdown if his predictions come to fruition.
