Following in the footsteps of last year's champion, Farrah Cunniff from Normanton, Corey's victory in the under 42kg category was met with unanimous approval from all five judges' scorecards. The 14-year-old Gawthorpe native delivered a clinical and stylish performance at the Cannock Chase Leisure Centre in Staffordshire, impressing everyone with his skills in the ring. Sherri Walker, a coach at White Rose Boxing Club, expressed her delight with Corey's development and performance, describing it as the best he's ever boxed. She highlighted the months of dedicated training that led to this well-deserved victory. White Rose Boxing Club, located at the Wakefield Soccer Centre, has been on an upward trajectory in recent years. Their increasing membership and regional achievements have garnered them national recognition. Jack Kirkaldy, 16, from Crofton, and Ben England, 16, from Skelmanthorpe, achieved impressive victories in the national development competition. Jack even had the opportunity to represent the Wakefield club in Cuba, sparring with Pan American champion Ariosa Tentación. Thirteen-year-old Fred Winterburn from Middleton has also been making waves with five wins in just seven weeks since joining the club, often facing more experienced opponents. White Rose Boxing Club is keeping their hopes high for Fred to secure a national schoolboy title this year.
