Tyson Fury Survives Controversial Scare, Denying Francis Ngannou a Stunning Points Victory
Tyson Fury Narrowly Escapes First Career Defeat in Controversial Victory Over Francis Ngannou In a gripping crossover battle in Riyadh, Tyson Fury narrowly avoided the first professional loss of his career by securing a contentious points win over Francis Ngannou.
The former UFC champion dominated the ring throughout the bout, delivering a major shock by dropping Fury in the third round. Ngannou showcased superior strength and comfort in the ring, leaving fans in awe over ten intense rounds.
During the fight, Fury suffered a graze to his forehead, and bruising started to appear below his left eye. Ngannou's prowess was evident as he outmuscled the WBC champion on the inside and displayed remarkable boxing skills at range.
As the fight progressed, it became apparent that Fury needed a stoppage in the final round to prevent what would have been one of the biggest upsets in boxing history. Surprisingly, Fury showed little urgency, and it was Ngannou who pushed the pace right up to the final bell. The fight ultimately went to the scorecards, where Fury secured a split-decision win, accompanied by boos from the arena. The judges' scores were 95-94 in favor of Ngannou and 96-93, 95-94 for Fury.
In his post-fight interview with TNT Sports, Tyson Fury commented, "That definitely wasn't in the script. Francis is a hell of a fighter, a strong, great puncher. He's a very awkward man, a great puncher, and I respect him a lot. He wasn't coming forward; he was standing back and waiting for me. He's given me probably my toughest fight in 10 years."
Earlier in the night, Fabio Wardley successfully defended his British heavyweight title by stopping David Adeleye in the seventh round. The heated buildup to their clash culminated in Wardley dominating the fight and dropping Adeleye, prompting the referee to halt the contest.
Additionally, there were routine victories on the undercard for Moses Itauma and Arslanbek Makhmudov, both securing wins in the opening round, while Joseph Parker stopped Simon Kean in the third round after landing two powerful uppercuts.
