Shakur Stevenson Eyes Free Agency: What's Next for the Three-Division Titlist

In a surprising turn of events, three-division titleholder Shakur Stevenson hinted at the possibility of becoming a free agent later this year. The skilled lightweight champion, who has spent his entire professional career under the banner of Top Rank Inc., suggested on his X (formerly Twitter) account that he is gearing up for a new chapter in his career.   Stevenson, 26, has been a standout talent since emerging from the 2016 Olympics, signing with Top Rank Inc. under the guidance of renowned promoter Bob Arum. However, it seems Stevenson is now ready to explore his options on the open market.   "Free Agent Season this year 👀," Stevenson cryptically posted on social media.   This revelation aligns with Stevenson's stance from last year, where he expressed a reluctance to automatically extend his contract with Top Rank. In a previous interview, he emphasized his desire to consider "every option possible" and willingness to engage in discussions with any entity interested in fostering great business once his current contract expires.   Potential suitors for Stevenson could include Premier Boxing Champion (PBC), founded by Al Haymon, and Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing. Notably, PBC supports American lightweight star Gervonta Davis, a matchup Stevenson has openly expressed interest in.   The prospect of fighting in Saudi Arabia has also surfaced, as the country increasingly hosts high-profile boxing events. Top Rank's Bob Arum recently suggested the possibility of Stevenson facing Davis in Saudi Arabia, given the financial backing that could satisfy both fighters and their representatives.   Stevenson's last bout, a lackluster decision victory over Edwin De Los Santos in November, earned him the vacant WBC 135-pound title but drew criticism for its uninspiring performance. Stevenson admitted to his own disappointment, acknowledging that he put on a "bad performance."   As Shakur Stevenson's journey in the boxing world takes an intriguing turn, fans and pundits alike are left eagerly anticipating the unfolding of the next chapter in his career.   #ShakurStevenson #FreeAgent #BoxingNews #NextChapter #TopRank #PBC #MatchroomBoxing
