Madison Square Garden hosted what was supposed to be another step toward a lucrative heavyweight showdown between Riddick Bowe and Lennox Lewis on July 11, 1996. Instead, the evening produced one of boxing’s most infamous contests as Bowe escaped with a disqualification victory over Andrew Golota before a riot broke out inside the arena.
