Galal Yafai Stops Tommy Frank in Round #1 at Yafai vs Frank Showdown
At the Utilita Arena in Birmingham, a big boxing match happened. It was organized by DAZN and Eddie Hearn from Matchroom Boxing. Everyone was excited about the Yafai vs Frank Main Event where Galal Yafai was fighting. Galal had won a gold medal in the 2020 Olympics and was the current WBC International Flyweight champion. Galal, from Birmingham, had won all 5 of his previous matches. He was up against ‘Super’ Tommy Frank from Sheffield. Tommy had a good record with 15 wins. But, Galal was very strong and fast in the Yafai vs Frank bout. Right at the start, in the first 30 seconds of the match, Galal hit Tommy with a strong punch to the face. The referee, named John Lathan, started counting because Tommy fell down. Tommy tried to get back up and keep fighting. Galal was ready. He signaled Tommy to come back and fight. Galal kept going despite Tommy, hitting him many times. Tommy's team saw he was having a tough time. They decided to stop the fight for Tommy's safety. They threw a towel into the ring, which showed their concern towards their fighter getting beat up. The bout was stopped after 1:40 of the first round after the Tommy's corner threw in the towel. Galal Yafai, 30, rose to 5-0, 4 KOs with the victory, his third successful defence of his championship. Frank, 30, fell to 15-4-1, 3 KOs, and lost his second defeat in a succession.
