Exciting Bouts for Young Boxers in Workington

Young boxers from Workington's boxing club recently showcased their skills at the North West finals of the NABGCs held in Blackburn's youth zone. The event was a testament to the dedication and talent of the local boxers, as they took on strong opponents in thrilling bouts. One of the standout fighters was Alfie Govans, a finalist in the 2007 60-63kg category. He faced a formidable opponent in J Smith Sandygate, who utilized his height advantage over three rounds to secure a win. Despite the challenges, Alfie displayed his ability to score effectively on the inside, making the match an entertaining spectacle for the audience. In another final, the 2008 63-66kg category, Elliot Murray took to the ring. Like the previous bout, this match featured two equally experienced and skillful boxers. Murray faced off against Alfie Boyd Bridgewater in a tactical encounter where both boxers used their unique styles to score points. The judges were split after three intense rounds, and Boyd emerged victorious in a closely contested decision that could have gone either way. The excitement continued with a club bout, where Alysha Duncan, a home show competitor, stepped into the ring at short notice to face M Bradshaw Technique. This thrilling encounter had the audience on the edge of their seats as Alysha showcased her resilience by surviving two standing eight counts and finishing the match with strength. Bradshaw ultimately secured the win, but both boxers were praised for their tremendous effort and sportsmanship. The success of these young boxers wouldn't be possible without the dedicated support of the coaching team, including Alan, Chris, and Joe, who not only transported and prepared the boxers but also provided valuable guidance and training. The Workington boxing club is now gearing up for their upcoming home show, which is just thirteen days away. Anticipation is building for what promises to be an exciting event that will surely highlight the talent and determination of the local boxing community.
