Dos Santos Praises Ngannou's Boxing Prowess, Eyes Rematch in the Ring
Former UFC heavyweight champion Junior Dos Santos is singing the praises of Francis Ngannou's crossover into boxing, highlighting the Cameroonian's impressive performance against WBC champion Tyson Fury last October in Saudi Arabia. In a recent interview with TMZ, Dos Santos expressed his delight for Ngannou, stating, "All the boxing guys are always talking, saying on the striking side we are not able to go there and put on a good performance against them." Ngannou, despite entering his pro boxing debut as a significant underdog, managed to drop Fury in the third round and gave the undefeated heavyweight a tough challenge throughout the ten-round bout, which ended in a close split decision win for Fury. Dos Santos, who fell victim to Ngannou's power in their UFC clash in June 2019, is impressed by the statement Ngannou made in the boxing ring. I think actually that would be something very good, not just for me, but for him, as well," Dos Santos stated. As Ngannou prepares for his second professional boxing bout on March 8 in Saudi Arabia, facing former two-time heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, Dos Santos acknowledges that once again, Ngannou is labeled as a massive underdog by oddsmakers.
