Boots Kicks in the Door in Brooklyn
Jaron “Boots” Ennis (36-0, 32 KO) went into Brooklyn and came out with Xander Zayas’ junior middleweight championships. Ennis showed he belongs in the upper echelon of any pound-for-pound discussion with a seventh-round TKO stoppage. Zayas (23-1, 13 KO) demonstrated mettle, but Boots was just too much for the 23-year-old Puerto Rican native. Ennis became a unified champion in his second weight division, winning the WBO and WBA championships.
