IS TURKI ALALSHIKH SAVING BOXING WHILE OTHERS CASH OUT?

UFC President Dana White is gearing up for a historic event this weekend, Riyadh Season Noche UFC, which marks the first-ever live sporting event at The Sphere in Las Vegas. This massive $20 million production will compete head-to-head with Canelo Alvarez’s fight against Edgar Berlanga. Despite the rivalry, White has nothing but praise for Turki Alalshikh, the chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, who has made a significant impact in combat sports by reinvesting in boxing while others simply take from the sport.

White pointed out that Alalshikh's efforts have brought about fights that seemed impossible before, thanks to Saudi Arabian funding. Unlike others who focus on profit, Alalshikh is truly giving back to the sport, an approach White finds commendable.

White also hinted at the possibility of collaborating with Alalshikh in the future through his recently rebranded boxing outfit, TKO Boxing, although nothing has been confirmed yet. For now, White’s focus is on delivering more UFC and Power Slap events in Saudi Arabia, where the combat sports scene is expanding quickly.

Riyadh hosted a successful UFC show earlier this year and has more plans in the works. With Alalshikh's continued support and investment, both MMA and boxing could see a significant boost in Saudi Arabia. White’s praise for Alalshikh emphasizes the positive impact of reinvestment in combat sports, ensuring the future of boxing remains bright.
