De León, boasting a record of 2-0 (1 KO), is gearing up to face off against Jose Alfredo Guevara (2-2-1, 1 KO) this Saturday on the undercard for the Liam Paro-Richardson Hitchins fight at the Coliseo Roberto Clemente in San Juan.
Hailing from Puerto Rico, De León kickstarted his boxing journey at the Juan Popo Guzman Gym in Cupey Alto, where he was mentored by esteemed figures like the late Juan Gomez and his father, Carlos De León Snr. From there, he continued to refine his skills at the Cheo Aponte Torres Gym in Caguas under the guidance of his father and other experienced coaches. By the age of 18, De León had clinched the Puerto Rico Elite National Championship in the 60kg (132 lbs) category, establishing himself as one of the island's most promising talents.
De León's amateur accolades include multiple titles in various prestigious tournaments around the world, showcasing his skill and determination. He expressed his readiness for the transition to professional boxing, stating, "The amateur circuit laid the groundwork for me, but going pro is about elevating my game. I've faced tough competition internationally, and that has given me the confidence to shine in the professional arena."
With a deep sense of pride in Puerto Rico's boxing legacy, De León aims to carve out his own place among the island's esteemed champions. "Puerto Rico has a rich history of boxing excellence, and I carry that legacy with honor," he remarked. "My mission is to bring glory to my homeland and motivate the next generation of champions. I aspire to be remembered as one of the greats when all is said and done."
Looking forward, De León is thrilled to collaborate with Boxlab Promotions, a partnership he views as a dream come true. "Teaming up with Boxlab Promotions is a game-changer for me. They believe in my potential, and I'm eager to stay active, grow with each bout, and chase greatness inside the ring," he shared. "It all kicks off this Saturday in my hometown of San Juan, Puerto Rico, and I can't wait to showcase my skills under the bright lights."
